Description

Yeon Jeokha had to suffer years of abuse from his father's first wife for being the favored second wife's son. Ch 85 - nice read, murim manhwa that whets your appetite!

This is a story of a young boy who is weak and unloved by his own family, mistreated and abandoned. By a stroke of luck the young boy receives the powerful inheritance of his family - martial arts skill. He is discovered by few rogue bandits - who saves him and adopts him in the wild. The story is about how the boy discovers love and familial warmth in the unlikeliest of places - amidst a group of bandits trying to make ends meet in the wild. The young boy grows up into a strong and adorable young man - thanks to the warmth of the not so cruel and not so heinous bandits, and the martial art inheritance. While we follow is warm story, trouble is brewing in the martial world. All is not as appear to be. An ancient evil, that the boys father had fought hard to put away, is awakening again. The young boy goes on a journey with his adopted family, has his first encounter with the troublesome evil bastards, and realizes that even though he can defeat the foot soldiers, it might not be enough to protect his family. We follow along in the storyline how that lights a fire in the boy’s belly, and that becomes a catalyst for him becoming even stronger. A parallel thread in the story also follows the story of his birth family, how they are faring and by all means looks to be thriving. An eventual collision between his birth family and adopted family is fated. One family is honourable martial clam, the other a bandit. In another thread, a collision between the forces of martial alliance and the ancient evil is bound to take place - who will triumph? Till chapter 85 - it’s been a riveting and fun read - I am looking forward to more!

I don't really understand why the manhua is getting ass these negative comments, it's not perfect but it's definitely entertaining and has a clear storyline. The art is definitely of a higher quality than most and the characters are interesting, I'm no expert but that's just my opinion.

what's wrong with the pace of the story?

It is the slowest story progression I have seen in my entire life.

Revenge? You'll be dust before we get even close to thinking about revenge?

The protagonist already started being almost the strongest, so after the childhood arc, there's almost no serious struggle, he just crushes most opponents, and it's not even interesting as like other "OP" character titles.

When the author could settle a plotline in just one or two chapters, it gets dragged for like 10 chapters.

The artwork is not the greatest but decent. Overall story is just mediocre, some people may like it, but for me, I didn't like it.

And about characters, [Spoilers Ahead]...

Excluding the step mother, who is just intended to be villain, Do you know who are the real villains in MC's life?

It's three people, his father, the namgoong patriarch and his daughter.

His father is the worst father a child could ever have, just because your "loved" wife died, you pushed the only child of that same "loved" wife to brink of death.

Next, The "sworn brother" namgoong patriarch, He just left the MC fully knowing that he is being neglected and abused, MC's father told him himself, plus after MC returns home with his daughter, did he not go to meet him? Just a single look and anyone could tell MC's state. But he just took the so called "successor" and left turning blind eye to everything.

Last but not least, oh so mighty and beautiful lady namgoong. She saw MC's state herself, and figured about everything about his abuse from a glance and promised to "protect him", and what did she do? Fed MC, and gave the stepmother a glare. If she is so intelligent as portrayed, did she not ever mention about these to her father brother, or even anyone? Nah, she just left. She forgot about her promise even after growing up.

On a second thought, it was for the better, MC found the mirror, became powerful. Left home and found his True Family.

Okay start with art that started nice, but got much worse. The rest is absolutely generic and poorly executed. Not horrible, but very very mediocre.

yet the story is not going anywhere, the mc has the maturity of a 5 y/o boy, best way to put it without saying he is challenged and not in a good way.

It quite good nothing much now but very promising MC growth is not rush at all and isn't very focus on revenge as I expected interesting side character complicated relationship with his eldest brother I am already addicted
