It's been a while since I read a Kakine work, and I feel really happy seeing both the writing and art improve compared to her older stuff. She's gotten a lot better at delivering the emotional impact of the story, creating and showing the character's personalities and conflicts and whatnot, which is nice since that seems to be her focus with her works, the bits of smut being more to emphasize those. There's definitely still a lot of room for improvement, but you can definitely feel the direction she's trying to move in.

im biased on this manga since i love men in uniform. i saw that all the stories are about cops and i was like YES.

stories are alright. cute and sweet, sometimes confusing. i don't really care. wish there was more smut LOL i am hopeless.

.. but the stories in this collection are quite underwhelming. The plots are already painfully trite, and the stale execution did not exactly help. There are some cute moments (mostly because of the art though) but they become much hammered down by clichés and couldn't really help save this. I feel like the author tried hard to be serious and to come up with original stories, but they're just too shallow to be taken seriously, hence the jarring gap.

...where would you put this one? Sometimes titles tagged Yaoi have practically no visible sex in them & sometimes ones tagged Shounen Ai are just FULL of smutty smut smut smut smut! I got into Crimson Spell on a site that had it mistagged for a bit, and by the time in the 1st chapter I'd really got into the story, BAM! So I've had to read the rest cross-eyed & quick-text-skimming in places.

If the same would happen to me on this one, I want to go in PREPARED!
