this review is written as of vol. 2 ch. 2!
i may update as the series continues (-w-)b
triggers/warnings (in order of appearance)
-begins with attempted assault, but it's quickly subverted
-dub-con warning when tsugumi gets his heat
-unprotected sex
-depictions of using the morning after pill and pregnancy tests
-rape warning more for megumi's backstory re: his father. as of writing this review, there is no non-con
it's always refreshing to see cliches from species/classes deemed as "lower" (ie: omega, subs, etc) completely subverted by a strong-willed character, which is exactly what happens in the first three pages of the manga. and not only is it in the first bit of the manga, but other characters aside from megumi and tsugumi also subvert omega-as-weak-and-helpless + alpha-as-uncontrollable-asshole-assaulters tropes. though it still contains typical omegaverse drama, it's used more to flesh out the characters' backstories than drive the plot. as a result, i'd say megumi to tsugumi has a bit more of a hopeful outlook on omegaverses than most series.
as the tin says, if you ever wanted to see bakugou katsuki of bnha as an omega, this is the manga for you. not only is tsugumi just as stubbornly fire-fuelled by anger like bakugou, he also has a penchant for violence and yelling out he's going to kill someone. the difference between tsugumi is bakugou is that tsugumi's a little stupid/dense, which i find adds to the hilarity of situations where he and megumi often find themselves.
(also i actually like tsugumi, but that's neither here or there LOL)
what's also nice is that megumi is someone perfectly matched for tsugumi in terms of physical strength, mental fortitude, and sheer stubbornness. what tsugumi lacks in social graces, megumi makes up in emotional empathy (and a couple of braincells LMAAAOOO). it makes for a fun dynamic filled with a ton of bickering, [funny] misunderstandings, and the dumb choices that follow.
the art style is super clean and easy to follow, and i absolutely adore sensei's chibis. if you get the chance, i also highly recommend listening to the drama cd, where ono yuuki and yoshitsugu matsuoka give outstanding performances for the first volume!! 😀
