Description

Teenage country bumpkin Tatsumi dreams of earning enough money for his impoverished village by working in the Capital - but his short-lived plans go awry when he is robbed by a buxom beauty upon arrival! Penniless, Tatsumi is taken in by the lovely Lady Aria, but just when his Capital dreams seem in reach yet again, Lady Aria's mansion is besieged by Night Raid - a team of ruthless assassins who targets high-ranking members of the upper class! As Tatsumi is quick to learn, appearances can be deceiving in the Capital, and this team of assassins just might be the good guys?

a mix of seinen and shounen in fantasy setting about corrupted imperial against the rebel, lots of blood, human abuse, gore, but it also has cute and heart warming moments so I was a little confused, still it's probably one of few shounen that I would read.

Now do not let those who CANNOT handle guro or violence turn you away from this manga, it is like berserrk but more cutesy, the story is well developed and you will get attached to the characters, it is a tragedy, so people WILL DIE and the setting is like the dark age, where lots of evil stuff happened. I will recommend this to anyone, if you cannot handle violent series then do not even bother reading this cause it's neither for the faint of heart or the bias.

What can I say...it keeps surpassing itself in getting better and better through each chapter. The chapters could get abit disconnected, story-wise at times but maintains the overall coherence. I gotta praise the author for creating such a fluid structure which is rare for these types of manga. It's not the most original manga but it has refinement, realism and just enough suspense and plot twists to keep readers hunger for more. Not being on the epic scale that Berserk brought forward (not yet anyway) is kind of a good thing as the plot is more focused and you get to slowly watch the charaters background unfolding together with the story. The idea of having a protagonist with potential is not overplayed here, which is also another good thing (I tire of seeing the same cr@p over and over again in shounen nowadays). That's about all I can say about this great work at this point in time. I heartily recommend this to anyone looking for a real shounen gem

Rather than dismissing this manga as trash, I think the targeted demographic should be taken into account. The idealistic hero/heroine is a staple in shounen manga and they usually follow a strict moral code against killing of humans (demons and monsters similar to humans are however fair game). In Akame ga Kiru this is not the case, rather it can be said that the main development in the protagonist lies in his acceptance of the need to kill.
In regards to the plot line, as of my writing of this there are 14 chapters, a measly sum to say the least. These few chapters don't allow for much room to adequately rate the plot but still as it is I think that it does well for itself.
In short I'd say this is a shounen darker than your average shounen, while not a must read it is something you should definitely pick up.

Reading the first part of the first chapter I was unsure of actually picking this up or not but once I finished that chapter I would love to see more. It looks to have a promising story , and like a previous poster commented, it has quite a bit of darkness to it. Definitely worth the read~

When I first read this I thought it'd be some typical shounen battle manga. I was wrong!
It may be categorized as shounen but it's pretty dark. I'd say it's almost got a seinen story but it has such a shounen atmosphere it's hard to tell.

How should I put it... Akame ga Kiru! is a manga for those who can take a few deaths and a lot of gore. If you're the type who would rather read fluffy shoujo mangas - this probably isn't for you.

Don't be deceived by some low-ratings or 'disappointing' reviews. All characters, including the evil ones, have a background story and connects to the way they are currently. Such as a certain anonymous character, who treated poorly in the past and wanted to kill all evil. If you think about it, it does relate to why she wants to kill people who are unjust in her eyes. (As in, people who treat others poorly are evil).

The protagonist develops his character throughout the story. Starting with being a crybaby, naive bumpkin to becoming an evil-slaying (although a little dense) somewhat smart man. However, he develops these characters by witnessing death and becoming stronger emotionally and physically.

The antagonists can be summed up in one word: Warped. In other words, they're insane mentally and have a very distinct perspective of the world and what is justice to them. Not gonna lie, some of the characters are disgusting.

TLDR; TOO MANY DEATH FLAGS.

This manga is great, completely surpassing any expectations, thanks to the scanlation teams for bringing us this manga

At first, there's a resemblance to Naruto when the 3 children departed from their hometown, but holy sh*t, rather than reuniting some times later, the other 2 were killed by the protag's supposed savior, grotesquely murdered too

wew, can't explain more with words, it is EPIC. READ IT

i really like this manga it seemed normal at first but it turned out to be an interesting manga with good action and art and a dark yet interesting story, it has a lot of potential to go far and so far i liked every chapter ive seen (of course i dont mean the evil doings but how every thing played out). some ove the weapons are really interesting and i really want to see more. Plus even though its a little dark with corruption gore and a lot of evil people doesnt mean it doesnt have the good qualities of a shounen manga like comedy hope this don't let me down

A fun read to kill time

Akame ga kill is basically a your run of the mill shounen manga that ploys a lot of shock content.. but that doesn't mean it is absolutely without substance! As a warning though it does have some extremely dark and controversial themes/moments

it has interesting characters, with modestly brief background and developments, the protagonist is your cliche Determinator trope hero

so personally I find myself more interested in the antagonists character and their unconventional relationship with the protagonist and the power disparities also comes in play to making the character more interesting!

overall if you need to pass time reading an enjoyable and exciting manga to pass time, Akame ga kill is just the right choice for you!
