As of C.13, I am biting my nails, dreading what's to come. Totally crazy. Totally crazy people. Psychological suspense done rather well: the story has offered just the right setup and doled out just enough foreshadowing at the right intervals to create this dread. I went into this not expecting much, so the suspense is quite welcome. [In the meantime, I am trying not to get too invested into the MC so what will/might happen won't be too devastating.]
The artwork is quite nice.
And that is all for my preliminary take.
UPDATE: And I dropped it at C.42.
Ju Saein, who has been wallowing in self-pity and flipflopping like Jane Eyre moments before Rochester declares love for her, has all of a sudden developed brains, even wiles. Wow, where were his wiles all this time while he was being exploited by everyone? All of a sudden, he knows he can use his omega traits to his advantage and actually has the balls to follow through?
The story initially had an interesting twist on the Omegaverse genre, albeit with typical BL tropes: the powerful, cruel top and a weak, whiny bottom; a reversal in the power dynamics just when the top begins to fall for the bottom; etc. But the shifts were forced, as if the author was just checking off the BL trope boxes to get the title to get the publisher's approval.
The art also seems to get worse as the series continues. Necks and heads align at odd angles. Even the handsome ML starts developing a horsey yet duckbill-like lips.
So, if you like reading about helpless, powerless bottoms who go, Wait, stop, too deep, no, no, no, and cruel tops who go from getting off on their bottoms' crying faces until they start feeling bad about those faces, this might be your next binge read. Otherwise, don't bother.
