Wild Rock

Description

Wild Rock takes place in a prehistoric setting.
The first story is about a boy, Yuuen, who is asked by his tribal chief father to seduce Emba (a great hunter and the next chief of the rival Lakeside clan) by pretending to be a female so that they can get more food. The other stories are in the same setting, but with different characters (including the fathers of both characters from the main story when they were young).

I hate Yaoi, though I never read it before.* [Prejudice much?] *
It's just that the idea itself... I mean, it's for gay-guys and freak-girls...
...I didn't want to read it, but I flip the coin and ended up here...!

This was my first yaoi manga......

I do HATE to admit it, but......

Warm, tender, realistic, heart-breaking... It's so convincing! You really feel the character's emotions and, before you realize, you were dragged into it!

I read the story of Kayono-sensei and we can tell who's the plagiariser by far!!!

Jeez! Am I defending an yaoi-mangaka?!? Creeeeeepy!!!

Not my fault! Try reading this story while listening to "Breath me" [Sia].
Yeah... the image of Yuuen and Emba's eternal vows is still lingering in my mind... strong and sincere.

i'm a total pushover for takashima kazusa's art, i love her to bits, i hope she's really back finally, but: unfortunately i am not fond of the useless, wide-eyed girly uke in this manga, and them having to be rescued by their ueber-manly seme. as a saving grace this doesn't disappoint in the art department, and i'll look at it again just to drool over emba and selem, and i bought it because, yeah, love for takashima-sensei, but it's not worth rereading for me.

I'm not a huge fan of yaoi mangas.
And to be truthful, I detest them. I mean, look! Guy x Guy is just wrong ! WRONG WRONG WRONG !

I happen to know this manga because of Koibana. You see, the forum was filled with the court issue. I wanted to see how similar both the manga were, so I decided to take a peek .. And I ended up reading more.

After reading this manga, my impression of yaoi mangas changed.. a lot, seriously.
Unlike others who dislikes how the author made the character girly, I actually liked that idea. I feel that it is quite suitable for starters like me, who are still not used to 2 muscular guys making out with each other.

Anyway, the story was short and simple with an appropriate length. It was just right. Any longer might ruin the manga. The side stories were great too (I loved them to bits).

Perhaps now, because of this manga, I can have the courage to read yaoi mangas already 🙂

We need more Embas in the world and also of the straight variety XD I loved the story, the art is beautiful and the plot is interesting. I loved the setting, loincloths For the Win! I wish it was longer, and I would like to know what happened with Selem and Yuni now that they are interesting old guys. Oyaji action 😮 Recommend it, so read it nao!!! O:<

I really like the extra LOL soo cute!!! Anyways i thought this series will be smutty and fortunately it's not. Both stories were simple, different and heart warming. I like the story between the fathers better, the development was better than the main couple. Overall great series and awesome art!!

Interesting new direction

Honestly, I just picked this up because it had bros in loincloths DING happy customer

BUT I actually really liked Wild Rock! (typing the title out now I'm kind of laughing and wondering if it was meant to be some kind of double entendre lmao) First of all, the art is really gorgeous so if you like correct proportions and interesting character designs, this manga will appeal to you.

As for the actual writing, the second story had me tearing up a little bit with the angst! I'll admit that I could be extra sensitive bc it's 1 AM and I may be hormonal right now, but I was really touched by the idea of prehistoric (lol) star-crossed lovers.

With the whole caveman deal, this manga could have gotten really campy really quick, but the mangaka treated it with respect and gravity and made it hard to laugh at as a joke. I recommend this!
(too bad she's stopped writing though 🙁 what a shame)

I really love this manga, it's short and sweet! I just feel that it's such a shame that we will not be able to read anymore of her stories thanks to the plajurism lawsuit filed against shojo-smut writer Kayano. Money does buy you innocence and ruin innocent people, it seems (but Karma is a b****, so we'll see how this ends for Kayano). Anyways, get your TAKASHIMA mangas while you can, since this will be your last chance (what, after being banned from drawing manga and all)...

It was an okay read but nothing special. The art is fine but there's better. The characters were okay but not that interesting and the story also wasn't great. The tribal setting is interesting but it doesn't come across as authentic. I expected better but for a one time read it's acceptable.

I love this manga!

i don't know y some ppl say that this was not good and even compare it to Harlem. Harlem was not even yaoi it was SHOUJO! So please do not compare it to SHOUJO!

But anyways, GREAT READ! People that haven't read it have to read this! ><

read it years ago and have yet to reread since. reason? i enjoyed this manga so much i am afraid to reread it until i believe i am ready. it is weird, yes, but still i love this manga and hope you all will too.

other yaoi manga i feel to have a strong impression: sweet revolution, only ring finger knows (the novels), desire, time lag, pet on duty, totally captivated, and some more.
