I don't think Japanese schoolgirls should be able to move through walls. It's uncanny. There's no gore, but it managed to freak me out by the way their limbs move. They look doughy and not at all like legs. Cute story, too. The urban legend wrapped up nicely.
Was curious about the cover so had a look at it and to my surprise the story was really unpredictable at least for me there was always something that I never saw coming from each story which made it a more enjoyable read than from what I usually read I diffently recommend it for anyone who is alright with the horror tag attached to it
There's 2 new books titled "スクール人魚" that came out in 2013, both with the same concept on the (very different) covers. Both are around 200 pages, so I think he redid this as an expanded storyline?
at first i was hesitating to read this manga, but then I thot Why not? it won't harm me" and it turned out pretty good...
the clif-hanger at the end, i don't think she'll be able to achieve her goal, cuz her ex-friend TURNED INTO A MERMAID, <-- wait did that make sense..
A few things I like about this short series is that simplicity of the artwork: it is not overly sexualized though it is implied, and I guess it's a very simple twist on the idea of a mermaid with a fish tail; the story of every situation is quite repetitive but there's always a small appreciation for how each woman/girl finds and ends up with whom they love or don't love. Shock value did go down after the second chapter. It's a very short read for anyone who could be bored and might need a small entertainment.
Well, I don't exactly consider this horror (versus something like Uzumaki), but it was pretty good nonetheless. As far as people going that far for love....well, I think that was more along the lines of obsessiveness (and bordeline psycho) than love. And I can't believe I'm admitting this, but I really didn't expect the story to end the way that it did. Wow. Talk about messed up.
I really liked this one.
I'm not exactly a horror manga fan, but I do like the occasional scare. I think the most dissappointing thing about this manga is that it's not scary, at all. Most horror manga isn't scary, I know, but...
Otherwise, though I think this is a great manga! It's not realistic, yeah, but I think the whole theme of this story is more of a statement that anything, and I really did like the mermaids. The whole idea of everything I think was just great.
I don't really like horror manga, but I accidently clicked on this so I read it. Bjorie gave a good review. The mermaids aren't what you expect. The ending did pull it together.
The best part of this short story was the scanlators comments though XD
While it wasn't really scary, and the mermaids didn't really look like mermaids, and the way the girls were willing to eat things that looked human and go through all that trouble for someone they loved didn't seem realistic, I really liked the ending and how everything tied together. That girl was brutal. Its really short, so I suggest people just try it out.
