Deadlock

Description

Yuuto Lenix, a former DEA investigator was arrested by a false accusation of killing his own partner. The FBI agents gave him a special deal, to look for a particular criminal hiding in the same prison. By the time he was detained in the Schelger Prison, he got to meet his cellmate, Dick Burnford, who didn't show signs of being kind and welcoming upon his arrival. Will he ever be in good terms with his inmates, especially to Dick?

I like the fact that there's no love triangle trope on this manga.Aside from Dick,Mickey,Yuuto ,Tonya & Matthew. Neto is my most favourite character 😭 He really treated Yuhto just like a brother and a best friend would do. Tbh, I'm glad, it didn't went to the love triangle trope. Otherwise,I would be soooo mad!!! I'm really fond of Neto so I'm absolutely happy that he remained as that "friend" of Yuuto in the manga. The fact that he's protective of those whom he considers as "friends" made me really like him🫶🤍. THE ART IS IMMACULATE OF COURSE😭 THE PLOT IS ORIGINAL!!!!

So many nicety nice boys in jail. Also, a ladyboys' gang. I dunno, maybe men's prisons have those; never been in one. Kinda doubt it. But if you can ignore things like that, the art is good and the story is engaging enough.

What can I say?! It's Saki-sensei's work.
If any of you have ever read S (Novel), you know how amazing her story lines are.

I literally just got this book today and finished it while I was still in the car. I've been waiting for this release since summer 2012. You can imagine, how hard it's been to just wait for almost 2 years to read this. It is so good.
Let me just say this in advance, if you just want something fast, this isn't for you. This book, I would especially say this volume, is too wordy and you need to actually read the contents to understand what's going on.
I can't judge anything just yet, cause the story doesn't even seem one-third through. It sounds very promising though. The plot is original, the characters (so far) are amazing and they just suck you in and you wanna know more about them.
As for the art, it is incredibly beautiful.

I'm loving this so far, hopefully it wouldn't take another 2 years for the next volume to be out.
And since it's licensed, buy it legally. The author and the artist both need the credit since they're amazing at what they do. You will not regret it, it's well worth the money 🙂

I am closing to the end of the story and I just can't describe how great the plot is! The twist is just so unique. At first I was searching for prison yaoi due to Under Grand Hotel, but in a way, this is definitely no where similar to that manga. Both are great works of yaoi! If anyone is interested in the ending, read the novels, its completed. There's a total of 3 volumes with 3 or 4 more side stories.

That art's so GORGEOUS. It's so crisp and clean, really polished. Aaah~! I was there was more of this artist's work scanlated.

I actually listened to the drama cd first (it was based on a novel), so I was pleasantly surprised to find out there was a manga! The plot's pretty good. The race relations/conflict can be over the top at times, even for prison (but hey, what do I know about being in prison?).

I also like that Yuuto felt American (mostly). I get annoyed when I read stories set in America, with American characters that act pretty much like Japanese people. That's not to say there aren't cliches and stereotypes in this.

I would rate the story as slightly above average. There are some scenes that had my eyes rolling due to how cliched it was, but for the most part, it's really good. The romance in this felt like a slow burn that kept getting more and more intense.

I've tried reading Under Grand Hotel, and I honestly don't think there are that many similarities besides the setting and initial conflicts. (To be fair, I didn't like UGH too much.) Deadlock's much more serious than UGH and slightly more believable. There's an overall plot that goes beyond the prison setting. Deadlock is NOT about Yuuto looking for protection by using sex (he never does this!). It's about the hunt for Corvus.

I have to edit this: okay, as it turns out it really is good, haha! Go read it o_o

Well, where art is concerned you couldn't get much better than that, in my humble opinion - although sometimes I felt as though there were too much light, it was too clean both for the setting and the atmosphere it wanted to convey. Also,I found the distinction between "pretty boys" and "ugly thugs" a little off-putting, with so many good guys being shoved at us right from the beginning, most of which (if not all) looked as though they had just checked in in the wrong hotel. Ahah. It's a pity it got licensed so early in the scanlation process, since I don't trust the story enough to buy it yet. I don't think I'll ever know the ending now, ahahah. It was still worthy, for me to get to know another wonderful artist. I really hope to see more of her (:

I like this story, very unique compared to other typical yaoi mangas out there. The art is splendid! Characters are not super manly nor super girly. I really hope this gets continued though, because it hasn't been updated for a while ;__;

The characters are a little too model-esque for me, but the art is clean and pretty.

The story has been done before, but it's always about HOW it's done. There isn't enough of this story to really tell yet. But the beginning is fairly interesting, and I would be willing to read more if it ever got translated. I'm assuming in never will because it has been so long, but if it's finished I'd pick it up again.

this manga is awesome! plus the art catch me. Why it has to be licensed? 2 chapters is not enough with me. Buy online cost much money at my place hard to order. 🙁 ( Not only the VIEWFINDER series but also DEADLOCK. please think about the orthers who dont have condition to buy as much books licensed they want to read 😐

Very interesting plot and the most beautiful art to bring the story to life. I'm definitely Dead in Love with the manga/novel! 😀 I could say, hope to more more continuation of this manga/novel soon and hopefully it get's translated into English. Would very much like to buy the manga/novel myself heh 🙂
