Description

When Yiren catches her fiancé and her crafty sister Rielle kissing, something in her snaps. She decides she must get married in order to escape her family. Yiren happens to learn that the icy, aloof Noel Cristan is looking for a bride in order to inherit his father's title of archduke. They agree to an arranged marriage to get what they both want, but it turns out Noel isn't the only one after his father's title. With all the family drama and intrigue, will Noel's family be any safer for Yiren?

Wow time really flies. I read this 2 years ago in 2022, and read up to chapter 44– then decided to wait until it ended so I could read it all in one go (which I am currently deeply grateful to my past self for doing)

I dont get it why is this series so unpopular... It has a fluffy setting and just enough drama to keep you entertained! Plus, everything they do as a couple is consensual 😻 bare minimum ik but a lot of manhwas tend to forget that.

The contract relationship trope has been pissing me off recently but I think this one transitioned fairly well for me. Like there was still some angst from the insecurity of having a contractual relationship but still wasn't void of romantic events or scenes and the thought of break up wasn't constantly killing the mood. Like actually communication? Yes, please! No female lead activitly using the contract to set themselves up for failure. No running in circles plotting to keep the fl by his side without just being honest and telling her that he actually wants more than just being a contractual relationship (minus that one time he thought of destroying the contract but it was hilarious). 82 chapters is a bit much but I binged most of this so it wasn't too bad. Lol maybe I just need to stop reading new releases with this trope and pick older stuff and binged so I don't die of frustration.

Familiar Plot

The first scene's plot is too familiar. It has a touch of difference but almost the same with the first plot of another manhwa - Daisy: How to become a Duke's Fiancee. It's too typical still. However, Daisy is mich better than this. I'm already on ch. 47 and still looking for some kind of unique flavor from other manhwa but truly disappointed at that.

First season was cute

But I’m on the fence about season two. Some times too much of a good thing is too much. They made it past the wedding but the character development seems to have stalled. Instead the author has replaced character progress with a weird couples quest to earn the ML the right to be named the heir. Even though the plot device in season one was that an approved wife was all that was needed.

I'll be honest, I can't be bothered to write a proper review of this, just like the author can't be bothered to write a good story, or good characters. The premise is not a bad one, but at some point, it just turned into the author going through a checklist of what the ML needs to be/have and everything the FL needs rescuing from, even if it doesn't make any sense whatsoever in the story.

Twilight, for once, might actually be a better love story than this.

If this is your first romance Josei manhwa please, please, please reconsider. Read something like Another Typical Fantasy Romance if you want actual adults making rational, logical decisions with real communications and no drama or idiotic "misunderstandings" for drama's sake.

This is either a hilariously lazily written story or the translation into English is really that bad.

Like a literal magician is shook that there's people who can manipulate nature. I'm hoping this is just translation error because if a magician isn't quite literally manipulating reality...then...uh...this story needs to do a waaaay better job of explaining that.

And in another instance where the ML wants a combat maid to be secretive about her guard role...except she strapped 3.5 feet of lethal steel to her waist for all and God to see.

And yet another instance was that breathtakingly stupid as fuck plan where FL wanted to go to ML but discreetly. So she dressed up as a maid...and was immediately caught by Bad Guy only to be rescued by ML. She then promptly, still in maid uniform, proclaimed she will not do anything to worry ML.

Bestie, I don't know what to tell ya girl....

The beginning is really great. Illegitimate child as heir of Archduchy is something I have never seen before. And FL is really amazing, after years she found strength to stop giving more chances to people who couldn't give her even a little bit of love and say "enough" to their face and then find a way to free herself from them. It is a pity that translation was dropped :/.
