The plot is by no means good. In fact, it's possibly one of the most pointlessly melodramatic plots I have ever come across (and I read hundreds of shoujo manga). The main character is irksome at her worst, but most of the time, she's just bland. I don't really have much of an opinion toward her, since to be honest, she doesn't really have a character.
Which brings me to my next biggest gripe. There's absolutely no character development. I say, thank the heavens it ended in two volumes because there was no way in hell that I was going to read through any more shoujo melodrama. Melodrama that occurs literally for no reason except random "events" which seem out of place. Both male leads have little to no personality. I admit, the childhood friend (I don't even remember his name) is adorable at times, but to balance it out, he's actually pretty childish and annoying. Hospital boy has his own issues, but at least they're partially justified by the manga-ka.
Overall, it's forgettable. It's annoying at times, but the art is good and it's short, which disguises a lot of the manga-ka's failures (described above). Because none of the characters are really developed or described well (either subtly or directly), I can't really find any faults with them, only the manga-ka.
I'd say, read it if you're in the mood for something dramatic. The entire story lacks something that makes me want to read on though, since the plot is predictable and at times non-existent. But I was actually able to finish it (on one of those days that I had absolutely nothing better to do), so it's not entirely terrible. The "story" is literally pulled together by a series of unfortunate events in which the main character finds herself.
I just feel bad for the main character, because the manga-ka didn't even give her a character to work with. Fans, don't kid yourselves about any deeper meaning. There is none. The paneling is awkward, the characters are... (already described), and the plot is predictable. I almost wanted to laugh at times, but that might be my more sardonic side coming out.
Like previous comment posters, I read a lot of shoujo manga. But unlike many of them who wrote glowing reviews, I wouldn't say this is a gem. It's not even an unpolished rock, because literally, there is NO substance to work with.
It's like.... a bitter-sweet candy that doesn't taste all that good, but you consume when you have nothing better to eat. Despite the fact that it offers little satisfaction. It's not really a spoiler to say "unsatisfactory ending," but then again, it might be because it's difficult to get attached to non-existent characters.
