I read this series twice. Even though the series no longer has it, I'm pretty sure Manta had the GL tag on it (the reason why I started reading it). On my first read, I was confused who the GL pairing were and the undertones of the story went over my head; I was really confused by the time I reached the ending. On my second read (just finished today), I understood way more and the story makes much more sense now. The story is definitely meant to be longer and it's a pity that it didn't go through arcs the story clearly had planned.
For the story that is here, it's well depicted. But for the sudden ending and no continuation, I wouldn't recommend it.

The young "boy" that the madam met when she was younger was actually a girl; in fact, it was the marchioness who reached out to her at the present-day ball. There could've been more story about Elena's and Liza's relationship, especially after Elena became an actress. Where did the housekeeper Sara and her daughter Marie go after the ball??? I'm still not clear why Sara stayed for the madam. Where did the origin of the witch rumors come from?
For the story that is here, it's well depicted. But for the sudden ending and no continuation, I wouldn't recommend it.
The story is short and sweet. Each character is given just enough a backstory and goal to make them believable and likeable. If you have an hour or two, I would recommend the binge.
