The cover page (beautiful watercolour with textured paper) says, Saiyuki Book no.6, so that might explain the confusing chronological timing to some of the stories.
This book is an anthology of a bunch of mini stories. The Kou-Chan ones are all one page. The artwork is amazing for the stories with Hakkai and Goyjo, and for Goku and Kou-chan, it is kinda rush and sketchy, but that may be the mangaka's intent.
Love Songs 1: Returning Home (3 pages)*
Love Songs 2: Come In My House
Kou-Chan Story 1: Opening
Kou-Chan Story 2: Outbreak Kou-Chan Lecture
Kou-Chan Story 3: Dream 1
Love Songs Extra: What Wasn't In Their World (Touching and gently moving. My fav.)
*Kou-Chan Story 4: Dream 2
Love Songs 3: Some Day's Fruit
Love Songs 1: Returning Home, *seems to be the beginning, but ends 8 pages later with the words, Love Songs 3: Some Day's Fruit. SO, I'm not sure about placement.
Kou-Chan Story 5: Pat
Ending: Kou-Chan
Random Page: (?)
Dishevelled (Random one-page)
Last 6 pages, no labelling. I think they belong to the first story.
Goyjo and Hakkai are trying to find trust and security in their life together. There is a beautiful analogy and deep meaning to a garden that Hakkai is planting.
Just as a heads up, I believe the stories may be out of order in the scanlation that I downloaded, so I was initially a bit befuddled by the plot. This one is a superior Saiyuki DJ, so it is definitely worth figuring out the order. It is like a slice-of-life, but with enough climax and human connection to keep it pushing forward and moving the reader's emotions.
