I couldn't take it seriously once crouch spamming or tea bagging was depicted as the apex of BM

It is a chill series that takes itself more or less seriously. I coached a few FPS players friends for funsies and follow a few esports scenes (OW, VAL, Fortnite) so i found it to be a fun premise to look out. It's not bad to kill time, has some nice entry concepts to those new to fps gaming.

Obviously the game is based off Apex, which I don't follow that closely, but there's overlapping concepts. And there's one particular interaction that I found really funny.

For FPS players, tea bagging / crouch spam is like Le funny taunt "noob" unless you're extremely unfamiliar with the shooter culture... It's nothing when compared to the typical XBOX kids that play CoD and Halo (I don't know the scenes there but I've heard streamers say that it's like 10 times more toxic with death threats, "uninstall", "bot", Slurs, and doxx or swat threats)

So in comparison, "tea bagging" is on a cute level. Like Gary/Blue from Pkmn saying "SMELL YA LATER".

As Red, you'd be like OK DUDE (tf?). Slightly weirded out, but not that offended. It's like the modern kid's equivalent of "n00b", a bit irritating, but that's it.

However... this series, it depicts Tea Bagging to be an offense as bad as being stalked by a serial killer. It literally shows characters being... TRAUMATIZED (like PTSD) due to a enemy TBagging them (like I can't remember exactly what since I read that arc a long time ago but the adverse reaction was so intense as if the affected individual will never touch a pc again). Like they got spawncamped over 10 rounds or streamssniped.

But no, it's just godamn tea bagging...

And all of this portrayed seriously... Like somebody got murdered / facing a real threat.

I'm not sure if the author's intent was to introduce a big bad through having a few opposing players tea bag, because from what I know on the higher ladder/esports scene it's more of less a common behavior.

It can feel dismissive to people experiencing PTSD due to real actual traumas...

Or it can feel like it's under researched.

Anyway, the problem also lies with the way the author chose to resolve it. As TBagging is not even a real issue in fps games, there was no point in making it the highlight of an arc that gives character... CONVICTION... The tbag arc was done for a character to move on from their very severe PTSD. Through "beating" the tbaggers through a match...

But in reality, it doesn't actually solve anything, because it's not considered a problematic behavior in the first place. It's just really naughty/trollish without the intent of extreme malice.

Like generally you want to see bad guys getting their just desserts after doing something go horrendous. But in this case, the "bad guys" are just some randos playing the game the same way a large number of randos do? Like cmon i would get it if they're cheaters, boosters, or griefers but these guys are just at worse doing some stupid emote.

So it feels like it's blowing things out of proportions.
