As of chapter 28:
You might know someone irl who is stuck in their feelings for someone, clinging onto them to their own detriment. It's common and even you might have gone through a period of adjustment where you realize a mediocre relationship you were used to was holding you back.
This story is about letting go of that mediocre relationship. A relationship that is really the only relationship you've known. It's hard when you're IN it and it's oft frustrating for the people around you who think it's obvious for you to move on.
Therefore, this story might be frustrating for the reader. You're privvy to both POVs. Sohno is stuck in his feelings and is confronted, for the first time, with a reason to change.
Yigyoung is the perfect love interest, so, to the reader, the grass is FLOURISHING on the other side and you want to hold up neon arrows pointing to it. Sohno knows this, but that's not the only thing that matters when in this situation.
Sohno is one of the most realistic characters I've read in regard to his mental and emotional journey. What belongs in the past, understanding the present, and picturing a new future. It's hard. It takes a long time of hemming and hawwing. It seems like there's no progress because no actions having been taken, but that's because the majority of progress is mental. I think this story does an excellent job covering the mental journey.
Overall, this is a very simple story that does what it does very well. A quiet romance. The characters have good chemistry too!
If you have the patience, it's more of a feel good story and doesn't get too dramatic or angsty. (so far)
