Description

When her grandmother passes away, high-school student Kajitsu Toda suddenly finds two hot stepbrothers and an adorable little stepsister dropped in her lap! Kajitsu and her step-siblings have only one thing in common: they were all abandoned by their parents. Against the odds, they've pulled together to form a family without grown-ups. They don't want charity, they don't want pity... they just want their dignity!
Things are particularly tough for Kajitsu and her step-brother Natsu. As kids, they were as close as any true siblings. Now, reunited for the first time in seven years, they've grown as far apart as two people can be. Can they ever become friends again? felt bad when she's still

contacting that sensei even though she's married on the last chapter. but even if she wasn't married, on the first place she has natsu.. and on the last part, sensei even asked her "are you cheating?" well clearly the answer is "yes" cuz you're doing something behind your partner and that's a big NO to me.. that case wasn't solve, maybe if this story will stretch out I'm pretty sure that sensei and kajitsu will hook up.. but this is just a story so what the hell.. i like the story the only part i dislike is that sensei part..

I want to bang my head against a wall at how lackluster the male love interests in this manga are. Some people may be into the droopy-eyed, 'I could care less' look but I'm so not subscribed to it. So besides the poorly written characters and the really poor, mediocre art, what exactly does this manga have to offer? Step-sibling romance? Wow, what every girl dreams of. Or, teacher-student romance? Ooooh another very sort after relationship by female students, really, no sarcasm. (I'm all sarcasm at this point).
The mangaka tries to pack in all these inspirational scenes but they just end up coming off half-hearted, they don't really stick with you and the entire piece lacks depth or any sort of three-dimensional writing. It's also really frustrating to me because she ends crossing a line into 'daddy issues' area which is a huge 'nopepity nope nope' on my part. Bye girl. That moment was weird. And I really didn't care for that one girl with the long dark hair that was tied to Natsu? Like? How are you relevant to this story and plot?
So basically, everybody in this manga has commitment issues. That's what I've taken away from this story in its entirety. Extra points though for having LGBTish, very light and VERY subtle, themes? Not themes exactly, hints really and characters? It's really not explicit.

this was a good read BUT....

she ends up with who i want but i'm just so piss that she still close to the teacher going to him in the middle of the night crying over him and still talking. All while Natsu loves her so much!!! Part of me just wish MIZUKI Shioko will do a one-shoot of this and in it Natsu will find out all of what the teacher and Kajitsu did. If you ask me i think he still has her heart. She just with Natsu because he's there.

I've had the first book for some years now and I have to say I loved it. I ended up reading the whole series many times over and each time I find something new. People say its empty or shallow, but its not. Honestly.

In a way, its rather heartbreaking. The two main characters love each other, at first its strictly platonic(even if Natsu's an iceberg in the beginning (he has his reasons)) and then it grows into something more. Something forbidden (though doesnt' seem that forbidden to me. Lolz). The two struggle and fight against it, sending Kajitsu into even more forbidden territory and Natsu into an entirely different world.

People seem to have a problem with the teacher, but as I see it, he only did those things to Kajitsu, not any other female (so he can't be considered a creeper for that). I think he genuinely cared for her. Her personality was intriguing and something beautiful, and he really ended up loving her. I have this notion that her feelings for him weren't entirely familial and that she indeed romantically like him. (He was very open and very sexy, but also very understanding) But, she loved Natsu, who was the source of her strength and the best possible choice for her.

For those who say that he wasn't and you were so angry that he ended up with her, have you forgotten the whole premise of the story? It was family. From book one we all knew it was going to be him she ended with. We all knew it. And if you didn't...You sure are a baka.

I love this manga, its definetely in my top ten.

Neat story

with a neat premise, told in a neat way.

Only thing that seemed cliche is the standard cold male lead but it's not badly done either. Life hasn't been nice to any of these people, they also had a falling out, that type of behavior is much more appropriate in that circumstance. But it also doesn't get in the way of trying to at least get along so he's not even pissy. I actually kinda like him.

I actually like all the characters introduced so far but I'm only in the beginning. I'd still recommend this.

Forgettable

It is forgettable at best.
The portrayal of family was touching, but in the end, several things pissed me off.

I especially didn't like Kajitsu teetering between Natsu and the teacher. Maybe it's just my experience with wishy washy girls who are so easily 'charmed' by other guys, but her -thing- for her sensei was just... wrong. And brings me to the next thing that pissed me off: the teacher. Talk about unqualified! Unless sexual harassment (yes, I do believe undoing a student's BRA at school for sake of 'teasing' is quite inappropriate) is tolerated in school teachers, this bastard should be damn well arrested. Sure it become apparent he eventually develops some sort of 'sense of conscience' but honestly, if you're going to fall in 'love' with your students over and over, don't become a goddamn 'teacher.' Don't teach, or rather, don't work around kids and end up preying on the insecurities of a high school girl like some pathetic creep.
God, that really pissed me off. I honestly don't see what's so 'cool' about someone who can't determine the line between work and play. I would have been able to accept him much more if he wasn't another typical shoujo manga 'smexy' teacher who doesn't teach crap and instead was just some guy on the streets. To me he's on the same level as, if not worse than, the teachers that peep, video tape (inappropriately), and/or molest students. At first I thought he would cool off, and assume his role as a teacher and role model, but I lost my respect for his character when he 'confessed' to Kajitsu (who apparently isn't even the first of his students to 'catch his eye') and kept toying with her.
Kajitsu, on the other hand, pissed me off because of her susceptibility to the Sensei. Not simply because of its occurrence, but because she needed the male-attachment to replace what she lacked in growing up without a father (this happens in real life too, trust me. my ex-gf was the same and I had to find out the hard way).
...and here's the real 'spoiler' part:
Even though Kajitsu ends up remaining faithful (somewhat..) to Natsu in the end, its the Sensei's 'temptations', lets call it that, and their effectiveness throughout the manga that pissed me off beyond belief. (and the general response as if such an affair makes good romance. it was starting to feel smutty/slutty and quite the superficially driven relationship no matter how hard the mangaka tried to justify it with the characters' 'needs.')
In conclusion, the teacher just seemed like a useless brat who was explicitly GIVEN his job and happens to be spoiled by a pretty face which apparently couldn't land him any success with girls his age and therefore he spends his time taking advantage of high school girls. Not much of a role model or a likeable character if you ask me; more a pitiful existence I wish wasn't in the manga to extract Kajitsu's insecurities and pubescent indecisiveness.

Anyway... getting worked up here just reflecting on the teacher. Apart from that, it was a pretty fun manga (don't get me started on the mother run-run...). Really.

i was sad when this manga ended, not because it ended but because Kajitsu didn't end up with Akai Sensei. i think they are much more interesting pair rather than Kajitsu/Natsu pairing. i don't know why the mangaka didn't end it that way. Akai and Kaijitsu are much more suited i think. oh well, we can't have everything. overall, i think that this manga is cute and nice to read.

This was actually a manga where I was not annoyed. Although this manga seemed like it was going to fall into the endless annoying steryotypes and cliches that most shoujo manga fall into, I actually liked it. The story seemed real to me. It's not that I think this plotline would happen in real life, but I really like how each character was really realistic (except for the mom who is just comic relief haha).

The mangaka did a good job handling the story. I like how no one is a "villian" or a "bad guy," but rather everyone is human, and sometimes humans make mistakes.

Lastly, I really like the ending. It's actually one of the best manga ending's I've ever seen. Everything was resolved in a humane, non-rushed way and I read the ending feeling satisfied, instead of "WHAT WHY DID IT END"

If you want to escape form annoyingly cliche shoujo manga yet want to read about love, I highly recommend this manga.

An enjoyment

First off, let me say I did cry when Akai left for China. I think Kajitsu would pair up better with him. In a way, I didn't like Natsu. Whenever his attitude seemed cold, he made it feel as if he would fit better in a world all on his own. I kept picturing him as an extremely spoiled, rich brat.
As for Kajitsu, she the type of female lead I enjoy reading about. Strong, free-willed, but still just an average girl, making it through school, love and life. I didn't believe that she saw Akai as a father figure. If she honestly thought of him in that capacity, then she wouldn't have gone so far with him when he was feeling sick.
As for Akai, he is probably my favorite character, although he's not a lead. When he first met Kajitsu, I wasn't quite sure how he would progress, being the typical cool looking teacher. At first I was going to write him off as a feeble, short-term character. Now I'm glad he played a much bigger role. He was able to become Kajitsu's support when she was desperately in need of one. In my opinion, he really did leave with a piece of her heart.

Overall, I would recommend reading this to anyone who's a shoujo fan. If someone passes the chance up, they would be missing out. Between the laughs, tears and the 'what-the-hecks', I enjoyed every minute while reading Crossroad. It's something I would keep to read a few more times.

Ever since I read the first volume, I loved it. The storyline is really cute and I love the personalities of each character. In the end, I thought it Kajitsu should have ended up with Akai since they both loved each other. Though I'm confused why sensei did not try to fight for Kajitsu's love. Sensei WAS like a father figure to Kajitsu, but then a real father would not molest his little girl --'' The series was funny, cute, and one of my fav reads ^^.
