Rushed ending

Let me first tell you that it’s Josei because of the content of the story but there is no real depiction of romance. They do not kiss at all. Other than that, the story was original but sometimes I girlfriend lost. The art is good. But the ending was rushed in my opinion.

I don’t like it at first, but I love how in the current chapter the FL was able to change her appearance to her previous self (before isekai) that’s new, and exciting

The artwork in the story is beautiful, so let’s just get that out of the way. However, the story pacing and the ending were all over the place.

This story had a lot of potential but ended in a non-ending and I’m not sure how the side stories could possibly clean it up but we’ll see.

I wouldn’t recommend this unless you’re reading it off a subscription website where you’re not paying per chapter or if you’re reading it off an unofficial translations page.

Honestly I thought better, I was interested through a YouTube Short but the story bored me. It could have had great potential but instead it was all wasted.

Chapters: 74.
Too short in some places and too long (unnecessarily) in others. Perhaps a few more chapters and better time management would have made an excellent product.

Story:
As already mentioned I was interested in a Short with the first chapters, where the FL (person reincarnated in a novel) having found the dragon egg which subsequently hatches, tries to send the little dragon to the "real" owner or the protagonist of the story .
Basically it is the story of the character who is originally bad but who redeems himself through reincarnation, but handled very badly.

Drawings/Graphics:
As the designer's first real work, you can still see a line that is not well defined and there are often errors and imperfections. I don't feel like criticizing her as it is the first long series that I have seen in her profile but compared to the illustrations on her profile there is a notable difference. Maybe she didn't have enough time and the result is this...
who knows.

Would I recommend this manhwa? . No ❌

The art has a soft, pastel style to it that really grows on you. The main character also has some amazing outfits (that match with the black dragon!!!)

I am confused.
At first I liked the manhwa because of the art and the cute interactions but moving forward with the story. I do not get it. I can't understand what is happening.

The way of writing is kind of like they expect the reader to have read the novel already. Which is why it is very confusing. The pacing, the conversation, the plot. A lot of things doesn't make sense, atleast the way I see it.

So I got to chapter 70 and there are only 74 chapters total but I’m dropping this. It’s such a shame, bc this could’ve been an amazing series. I forged on through the whole bad storytelling process which didn’t improve, but even the wonderful art can’t save this when the last couple of chapters are going to have the main character struggle with immature romantic woes. Just not even worth reading at this point. Dropped rating from a 7 to a 5 too.

I really like the art style in this one.

That's about all the good I can say for this story as of now, though.

Despite being a huge fan of the author's other works and someone who really likes the art in this story, I haven't been able to get into this story.

My biggest issue is definitely how the story is told. At first this seems like a cute slice of life, but before long you realize it's an action mystery with a side of romance. It's pretty cool - it's not a combo I see often. But, the way this ends up playing out is a bunch of stuff just doesn't make sense, all the time, until it gets explained a chapter or more later. This would be fine if it's plot intrigue or suspense but it's not. It's random details where I'm like huh is this just bad writing why are the characters acting / not acting this way, why is this or that not shown. It's happened often enough where by now I'm just constantly confused by character's actions and just assume that later on there'll be an explanation for why they're acting in a way that would count as bad writing suspension of belief stuff in any other story. Maybe in the novel it's like a mystery narration that leaves out certain details only to then reveal what was going on, but the way it's done in this story just produces constant confusion and doesn't make for a good reading experience IMO.

The characters are okay. No real personality for any of them other than the FL's laziness and apparent airheadedness where she has no concern for her safety despite how people are trying to kill her. The ML seems to have an insta-crush and that's all the romance that exists as of yet. Due to the plot moving at a very surprisingly fast pace, the characters all take initiative so there's that - no one's passive.

The plot has covered so much ground in just the chapters that're out and while it's definitely refreshing in a way, the bad storytelling makes it so that stuff is just constantly totally unexpectedly happening. There's not much of a ramp-up to the action... the action just suddenly happens and I'm like oh okay.

The art and that stuff does keep happening is why I'm still sticking with this, but I also can't say I'd recommend it.

A fast paced action mystery (slow-burn) romance from the author of The Princess Pretends to Be Crazy and Seduce the Villain's Father, I Raised A Black Dragon is the long-awaited webtoon adaptation of one of my favorite rofan novels (though, a disclaimer: I haven't finished it yet).

Art: though the characters aren't exactly how I imagined them and the art isn't perfectly to my taste (though still good - I especially love Muell's dragon form!) the artist has good sense comedic timing, the suspension and tension is perfectly depicted, and the matching outfits are cute.

Execution: the plot is engaging and there's never a dull moment, but if I hadn't read the novel I would be a bit confused - some of the reasons and motivations aren't clearly explained at the beginning of the webtoon, which leads to people trashing the ML or getting annoyed with the FL in the comments. Could also be a bit due to unclear translations and people having bad reading comprehension.

The romance is cute, I really love how they develop their relationship. The world building is cool, the mix of magic, technology, and government intrigue kind of reminds me of Fullmetal Alchemist, if it was a Korean rofan. The webtoon adaptation is interesting because the art gives me a sense of horror suspense that I didn't quite pick up on in the novel, and I think it might also be a bit more comedic; I quite like it.

This review is as of webtoon chapter 16, I'm excited to see where this goes on the future.

It's not a bad read but its not great either. Just another one of those where the female lead is sandwiched between two handsome men of which neither are very likeable. Worst of all, she has barely any agency. Still, it has its good points so if you're okay with that its worth reading.
