Description

The FL is HC, the romance is uber cute, but the story becomes repetitive and predictable

Finally, finally a truly morally grey, HC FL! I haven't seen this anywhere else, to be frank. Verta is really something else. She is a supple snake waiting to bite, with plenty of bile and poison to throw around! While she's not a typical antagonist who does a wide variety of bad things to people just because, she really does take her revenge seriously and is ready to kill and steal to get what she wants. She's hardly a morally upright char, but nor is she morally bankrupt, and the thin line she is walking down made this manhwa for me. But some things she did really ellicted a gasp out of me. Verta, you dog! And all the better, as most FL are bland, goodie two shoes characters - at long last we get a more nuanced, more complex protagonist. Plus the romance between the ML and the FL is actually cute in their own twisted way. Birds of a feather!

The rest ranges from okay to meh. The art is very, very nice, the men are drawn especially sensually, with long lashed and they all look very yummy. What bogs down this one is the story - after the novelty of Verta being such a kickass character goes away, the story becomes repetitive and somehow predictable. Stuff happens, Verta reacts, Verta plots, Verta does some nasty things.... And so on, and so on. If only the antagonist was more... Imaginative. If only some doubts creep into Verta. If only there were some unexpected twist... This manhwa would have been a n instant classic if the polished the story and made it more dynamic. But still, more than worth the read, mostly thanks to Verta.

Enticing plot that is rushed near the end. Shallow worldbuilding. Complacent action. Distinctive romance that is unconventional. Characters lack development. Dialogue flows nicely. Cardboard-cut-out atmosphere in terms of pleasure. Strong beginning but the rest is mediocre. Exhibits a flirtatious tone. Recommended for those looking for short-term excitement.

lack of inhibitions (no guilt murdering ANY who cross them)
manipulative

— nearly all the male characters have or want to sexually assault/rape the main character
(plays into femme fatale storyline) or is a p*dophile, has multiple mistresses, is cheating etc. Just generally not good characters.

— all the women either used to prop up the main character (they become the main character’s followers and used as tools) or as an enemy to humiliate and murder

Good art.

Hidden gem

I'm not sure if this series is that known amongst people and it's such a shame, since the story isn't too long nor short, but perfect in its length.

The art is very beautiful, sure, at the beginning someone could say that it's not an eye candy, but it became better and better with every chapter.

The mc is very foxy and scheming, but honestly, I adore such characters. She was mean to the very end, but also loyal to her allies and she always remembered to repay them for their help. I also loved the romance in this story and her partner. They were perfect for each other.

As for the side story, it's nice that it exists, but if it didn't, I wouldn't cry. The main storyline was satisfyingly enough for me.

I definitely recommend, but as someone already said here, you'd better know what you're going to read. Mc is not going to be one of those damsels in distress and forgive everyone for everything. She's going to bite and chew you whole and she will do it with a wide smile.

Good smut, decent story

It's an interesting plot with lots of sprinkles of smut throughout. The guys are HOT, as are the erotic scenes. The pacing is good and the story basically makes sense, till at the end I'm a little confused, but it seems like the author is pretty good at unraveling things for me. The FL is not someone I particularly like because she is shallow and deceptive. However, the games she plays are fun to watch, and the deeper plotline keeps me interested. I gave it an 8. Not my fave, but towards the top, def.

the story stays interesting and the revenge is satisfying each time, to the point where sometimes I forget it’s smut until a hot scene just abruptly appears immediately after some conversation or revenge-plot action.

you’ve really got to be on board with the FL’s twisted self as she navigates through different obstacles to get revenge. the beginning is hard to get through with the r*pe stuff but that doesn’t last too much thankfully.

I wish the male characters had more time for character development. So far they just have an initial setup, lust for the FL and then develop some kind of crush or not. Would have liked for more relationship and personal development but I guess that’s hard given how much content we already have in all 90 chapters. It ended too soon IMO.

spoiler for ending which made this review 9 instead of 10:

the ending is really rushed and the ending scene with the coachman was really random. I understand we mean to end things with the villainess being herself doing villainous things but they could have done a better job. the wedding was such a rushed way to give everyone screen time and a final smut scene and there wasn’t much grandness or romance. I feel we should have had more chapters before the wedding to at least round out FL’s twisted feelings about not being able to love her husband forever, that would have been nice rather than a short 4 panel mention.

Interesting plot. Initially came for the smut, but the plot is good. FL is morally gray. She's doing revenge for herself while using someone else's body. Body switching was even intentional! Art is gorgeous (extra characters are also attractive lol

it sometimes pains me that they die ). She's smart with her plans, that's why most of them are successful. I don't know which one's the ML, but I really ship her with the one she has more chemistry with. (Feb 2023)

As of June 2023, OMG she ends up with the character I ship with! Yayyy! Rushed but I guess the ending depicts how she stays as villainess

August 19, 2023: Wow, I'm glad they had an alternate universe for the other ML so both teams can enjoy.
