Satou-kun, with his fluffy body and heart, spends his days in peace. One day, while being surrounded by tough-looking guys, he was rescued by a fiercer-looking gentleman…?!
1 Volume (Complete)

Honestly, I don’t know what I was expecting considering the beauty standards and focus on weight in Japan (or East Asia in general really). I went into it without reading any reviews, and was hoping this would be a cute story of falling in love regardless of outward appearances. Yeah, no. Seme is an asshole and is only interested in the uke AFTER he loses weight. Everyone treats the uke horribly throughout the story, until he loses weight, then they all magically love him. That’s literally the entire plot.
Of course, that isn’t entirely unrealistic. We all know people act differently depending on how you look. But man, it’s depressing. Also, I’m so sick of asshole semes. Anyways, hated it, don’t recommend it at all.
Heeeeeey! It's been a long time since I had to comment here in MU but this manga is really cute! I had fun reading it. I will surely read this again.
I'm not a fan of stories in which characters take abuse only because there are some scraps of affection sprinkled in there from time to time, and because the story justifies it as "see, he changed at the end, so enduring it was worth it!".
Mimasaka wasn't likeable in the prequel anyway but is even worse now; it's like for 85% of the manga he enjoys hurting Jun on purpose. Instead of the more normal "spending time together at work and getting closer", Mimasaka and Jun get closer because...Mimasaka doesn't insult him as often? The bar is in Hell, and still too high.
FWIW I think it's good that Jun lost weight, but I really don't see any reason why he'd fall for Mimasaka. Even when Mimasaka apologizes and confesses to Jun at the end, it feels forced and more like a beat-by-beat cliché where the bully suddenly has to be emotionally vulnerable and see the error of his ways because the plot requires the couple to get together—because if the bully didn't have a change of heart, he'd just be an unlikable piece of trash.
The sex scene at the end was hot; it's a pity that there wasn't more fluff before it. If Mimasaka's rudeness was toned down a bit, this would've been a great story. As it is, 4 is generous, and that's mostly for the art, the sex scene, and for Jun's character, who deserved to be put in a better story.
It's fine if you ignore the usual BL logic (physical/verbal abuse = cool and manly, happily accepting abuse = cute, dysfunctional relationships started through abuse = love). The whole series is fine, but nothing more. I admit I it made me chuckle
when he shrunk in height when he gained weight, and grew more than a head taller when he lost the weight again
so that, at least, was amusing. Not a bad read if you have nothing else to do. Loved the mom, so that's a plus.
Jun (that's Satou-kun) is absolutely adorable when he's chubby and even after he loses all of his weight,
the whole eating a bunch as a trauma response to his ex rejecting the relationship felt rough, but it's nice to see Jun's final response in the end. Mimasaka is also cool, a bit stoic, which y'know that's nothing new, but he's a good person at heart, he has sisters and his little brother energy is present in that dynamic. The person that helped Jun lose all his weight is also a funny individual because he is Menkui and that gag is run more than once.
I can't give it full points because I didn't really feel touched or aroused by the sex that did happen, but hooray that it happened (?)
