Note 3: The statement given that the Hanahaki disease is patented is false, the concept was never patented/copyrighted (there's no info saying it is). The possible reason the manhwa got backlash could mainly be that a Korean author was using a Japanese concept in 2017 as there was a lot of tension between the netizens. Lezhin at this time was still at its beginning and most likely didn't want to add to the fuel and listened to readers complaints.
