I'm surprisingly hard to please - I rant endlessly about the stupid shoujo cliches and how I cringe reading each and every single one of them. Why? Because they take themselves too seriously. They were written as if they were the first to come up with that kind of story line and it's supposed to make us swoon, or something like that.
Cutie boy is a manhwa that should be taken at face value. Even though there's some weird crap going on at the end, it is first and foremost a comedy. And only one other manga has made me laugh out loud so many times (that being Angel Densetsu), so I'm very pleased with this.
The story is about a girl who got bullied by this mean guy in her 2nd grade, he made life hell for her. Well, she somehow manages to meet him again 7 years later, and not recognize him, but she falls in love with his pretty face at first sight and asks him out. The bully? He blushes all cutely and agrees, and that's where most of the misunderstandings will come from.
Characters with actual deep personalities? You won't find them here. You read Cutie Boy for comedy, and nothing less. You'll feel a lot happier that way than to judge it by a standard which it can never achieve, and doesn't attempt to.
Cutie Boy made me laugh out loud several times, so it gets an 8 from me, great comedy.
