The stories are in non-chronological order so it gets a bit confusing at times, But the themes and folklore are beautiful and tragic. The explanations and translator notes at the end are very informative, I recommend reading them.
This is a compilation of short stories most of the time.
There is a background story but not much is told about it in the first three volumes.
These stories are a great introspection into the human nature. Hope, love, betrayal, revenge.. All of those human emotions are depicted in beautiful ways through the short stories. I really loved the stories and the art.

This theme of the manga really draws me in. The mangaka craftily begins each chapter with something intriguing, something that seems to already foreshadow the oncoming tragedy.
I love this series.

I love this series.
There's one story I particularly love, the one of the servant girl taking revenge for her husband's death. The character design is a bit repetitive, but the stories are tragic and romantic.
