Disability

I'm looking for manga about a person with disability.
- No suggestions with "disability", "blindness", "deafness", "paraplegia" tags. I've seen that all.
- Blind warrior/samurai does not count as person with disability.
- Preferred disability scale:
Blindness (boring) < Deafness+Mute (better) < Paraplegia (most interesting!) - Japanese manga with at least 2 volumes.
- No yaoi, shounen ai.
Some examples from what i've read:
Limited Lovers - Excellent!
D-ASH - Excellent! Good example that even a small disability can make good story.
Helen ESP - Great! Even though it's not realistic and doesn't stress tragedy, there are many good scenes depicting adaptation to normal world.
Kingyo Sou - Simple, but good.
Flower (WADA Naoko) - Bad. Dropped after 2 volumes. It's too simple.
Chikara no Arika - Bad. Such muteness doesn't count as disability. Moreover, mute has secondary role.
P.S. I don't expect much, because this is a search in not-tagged (unpopular) manga. Even one title would be a great discovery.

Shion no Ou - trauma-induced muteness.
Otherwise, drawing a blank.

Second Real.
And maybe:
Chidaruma Kenpou Onorera ni Tsugu
Kimi no Te ga Sasayaite Iru: deafness, sadly no scanlation. it's very good, heart-warming story.

It's impossible to miss REAL. 2nd place in "category=Disability&orderby=rating". 😉 Too much basketball to my liking.
Muteness doesn't count as disability for me. But i'll look at Shion no Ou.
Chidaruma Kenpou Onorera ni Tsugu - disability tag, samurai, 1962. Not good.
Kimi no Te ga Sasayaite Iru - this is exactly what i'm looking for! 😃 Untagged series and 26 volumes with all sequels! I hope it's not too simple.
Anything else like Kimi no Te ga Sasayaite Iru? No need for scanlation, i can read japanese.

Have you tried reading it? It isn't so much about basketball as it is about over coming one's disability and reentering society as a decent human being. Basketball is pretty much treated as a plot device (rather than the plot) here. And if you liked D-ASH, well... IMO D-ASH is good but REAL is better. And unlike D-ASH the disability is the main point of the story in REAL.
Unless, of course, you want romance (which you didn't indicate); REAL isn't your thing, then. But still its themes make it a must-read.

As a friendly suggestion (don't mean to rub anybody the wrong way or anything), but, if you haven't read past the first few chapters of Real, I'd recommend it. I tried reading it as a basketball story but had to stop because that wasn't the focus...
...if you've tried reading it and still don't like it, you are not alone. Good luck in your search
Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come.

Dropped Real after reading frist volume. But i'll give it another try.
One ~ Kagayaku Kisetsu e Never read it so I don't know if it really fits, but in the game (which it's an eroge btw) one heroine was blind and another one mute.
What I like in Trivial Pursuit style. Pick your category:

REAL is primarily about overcoming some kind of adversity. So its not like disability is the manga's ONLY theme. The basketball and wheelchair basketball are devices used to illustrate the focus of the manga.
You should look into psychological manga. Maybe something along the lines of a mental disability?

Well, not really sure about manga... Most are either in the correct categories or already mentioned here... But maybe Katawa Shoujo is your thing, pretty much every character in the game has a disability of some sort). Full version should be released at January the 4th.

Real again... I didn't say "It's not about handicapped", i said "Too much basketball". What attracts me in manga about people with disabilities is interaction. I enjoy watching normal people reaction. How they freak out at first, clumsily approach and gradually understand partner. I haven't seen this in Real.
Katawa Shoujo... Somehow, i can't get over the fact it's an eroge made by gaijins. 🙂
