I'm looking for a romance manga with the main couple being childhood friends. I saw a lot of topics about this, but none of them had a short recommendation for the manga. So I would like you to why you like the manga or what caught your eye.
I don't want any shounen-ai or yaoi. And big plus if the plot was really good, not just cliches everywhere. (But if it's a good manga, I don't really care.)

This may be 'off topic', but honestly - Why asking for a short description, if you can find one with just one more click on the links used within most of the replies? oO"

You can go through this page and see if you want to read any. Since a lot of oneshots feature childhood friends, I doubt anyone is going to read all of them and provide a summary for something that's only of one chapter length.

Touch - one of the most beloved manga/anime series in Japan
Cross Game - same author as Touch, also really well received
Aoi Hana
Oyasumi Punpun - one of the best manga currently in serialization

Prism (Higashiyama shou) I wish I had a beautiful childhood friend who I fell in love with then and then I'd find them years later and fall in love with them again BUT I WON'T. I love this manga because while it has that element of fantastical romance, it still retains its realism. With this they were in love as children and grew older to fall in love again. It's damn cute.

@ccszotyi: Now it sounds definitely more reasonable. *nods*
So, how about ...
* Ao Haru Ride or Strobe Edge - Even if the main characters may not have been childhood friends, there are others and some cute sidelines along the main pairing.
* Oresama Teacher - Still ongoing, but the female main character meets again and again her childhood friends and some of them seem to develop slowly feelings for her. Also, the relationship between her and the main male counterpart is quite beautiful, since there is a kind of closeness between them, that allows them to act absolutely natural in front of each other.
* Tonari no Atashi and Kimi ga Suki - Those may be a bit depressing by times, but that's what makes them rather realistic in my eyes, since not everything in life goes the way people want it to ...
* I ♥ HS and Mishounen Produce - Two light and nice reads.
* Nonchan to Watashi - Josei, if you don't mind, it's worth it's while, just like the other stories by YOSHINO Aki.
* Pink Lady - If you don't mind webcomics.
* Venus Kisoukyoku and Harem Lodge - It's been a while, since I was reading them, but looks like they are tagged with the right category and I kind of liked them back then. ^^"
