So I've been checking out WataMote, I like it a lot but I feel really bad for Tomoko after a couple chapters.

It got me thinking how funny this would be if it was about a fat, loud Otaku. Instead of being sad over failures he only gets angry and starts blaming others with humorous excuses. There's too much comedy gold in Otaku culture, like when an Otaku threatened retribution on some seiyuu for getting married.

Is there any series similar to that? most of the Otaku manga I've seen are either sad or informative but not that funny

Kuragehime- Gang of otaku living together.
Fujoshi Kanojo
Beast Master- She is definitely an otaku of sorts
Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge- the mc is a total otaku.
Fujoshi Rumi- if I remember correctly, this one has lots of otaku-based jokes

oh wow, these are some really great suggestions! I think I will get to reading all of them eventually, Thanks a lot guys.

Welcome to the NHK is really appealing to me haha. The last time I found a comic about drug it was Ultra Heaven and I really liked that. This one seems pretty close to what I was looking for.

Pushu~ke~!! Psyche!
A Happy birthday from paradise
Man-ken. though i can't remember if it makes fun of them or not. All about a manga club.
Cy-believers-if love of robotics counts as being otaku
Natsunokumo-not a spoof of otakus but rather it analyses the mmorpg gamers' psyches and shows them in a bad light. Though its the futuristic viser type stuff.
Sprite-it makes fun of otakus in a way but its more subtle and only the beginning is really focused on it.
Saiteihen no otoko-though it is more focused on other things.
51 ways to save her-the female mc is a gothic lolita music otaku...could probably just call her a crazed fan girl (not sure of the technical term, or if there even is one) and the male mc makes fun of her for it and criticizes her. Though the plot degrades a lot later and I feel obligated to give you a warning that there's a lot of rape in it.

EDIT: didn't read the bit in the description about wanting funny ones, 51 ways to save her and natsunokumo are pretty depressing so I'll take back those recs lol sorry. Also if you want NEETS then Inside our roof beneath the sky fits too.

I usually read shonen action manga like Otokojoku sekigake, but I never knew there was so much humor in this genre about the comic culture itself lol. Thanks for all the suggestions I'll be going back here a lot.

I just read Choku! by the authors of WataMote, its not really about an Otaku but there are a lot of jokes about NEETs in it and made me laugh irl a lot.

in the beginning of NHK I learned that some people in Japan take Ritalin and other strange prescription drugs these days... I guess the US abuses them too like Xanax and Oxycodone. All of those are really harmful in comparison to a lot of substances (Ritalin was given to kids with ADD), I find myself feeling sorry for them...
