Description
From Del Rey:
It's a gorgeous, spacious mansion, and four handsome, fifteen-year-old friends are allowed to live in it for free! There's only one condition - that within three years the guys must transform the owner's wallflower niece into a lady befitting the palace in which they all live! How hard can it be?

Enter Sunako Nakahara, the agoraphobic, horror-movie-loving, pockmark-faced, frizzy-haired, fashion-illiterate recluse who tends to break into explosive nosebleeds whenever she sees anyone attractive. This project is going to take more than our four heroes ever expected: it needs a miracle!

;D by Gingeh on September 6th, 2010, 4:38pm

I like this manga - there's a good reason why this title is so popular.

It's original, it's funny, and it's got bishies <3. I love all the characters, each so very different from each other, and they all interact and get along (or don't) in a multitude of ways. They all grow as the manga goes on - very, almost excruciatingly slowly at times, but they do develop.

The pacing of the manga is very slow though - there's a billion different arcs where it feels like nothing happens. It is an excellent series though, if you can wade through some of the less-exciting bits, and it's perfect if you're looking for a good laugh.

And the art isn't half-bad either. Not your run-of-the-mill, cliche shoujo type of art, but nice.

All in all, read it - the only real flaw from my point of view is the pacing, and the parts where something does happen more than make up for that.

Different but.... by manga_geek on September 6th, 2010, 11:03am

The manga is very appealing by not taking on the overused clichés you find often in shoujo manga, furthermore it's highly satisfying that the heroine doesn't feel the need to change herself and embraces her own quirky personality.
But the story is very slow so don't read this manga if you find slow paced and slow developing characters immensely annoying
But I still think this manga is worth a read. Whether you like it or not you'll find out if you give it a read.

ok... by angeltheya_12 on August 30th, 2010, 12:46am

it's ok... was fun reading up until 14 volumes...or so. but it's too dragging, slow character developments (well i didnt even really notice it until you look onto it more) but it's funny. You'll have nice laugh reading this(during your free time is the best time) but yeah,,, it's kinda annoying a bit.

Good but... by jptranslator_girl on August 17th, 2010, 7:33am

...it is starting to drag a bit. Quite frankly, this series could have ended somewhere around the 14th or 15th volume perfectly. Even if the "love issues" hadn't been solved by that time, this is one of the few shoujo series' that would have been just fine being left open-ended.

One thing that I do like about this manga is that there is no direct romance between the leading male and female characters. I enjoy subtlety--since I'm not mucn of a romance fan. Also, the fact that the mangaka dared to center her series around self-acceptance (i.e. the leading female not going from morbid-rambo-goth-chic to cinderella...but simply accepting herself as morbid-rambo-goth-chic) is quite commendable. However, it IS starting to drag. It would be nice if she could just wrap things up--in the most creative/comical way possible, that is.

Love Hate Relationship by mikako17 on May 27th, 2010, 4:13pm

You either love this manga or hate it I think, I personally hate it. Here are my reasons:
1. No character development
2. No plot and the same things tend to happen over again in different ways
3. Nothing interesting
This is just me personally though, maybe there is someone who sees that there is something. This manga just has no meaning or anything that would make anyone really want to continue reading it after volumes. If you are looking for bishies then I guess this could be a good place to look, a better manga with bishies and interesting characters and plot is Ouran High School Host Club by Hatori Bisco. And for those who like the slow development of the relationship, I have to say that Skip Beat!'s slow development is a lot better and more enjoyable.

Awesome Manga by Yumechime on April 1st, 2010, 11:45pm

Perfect Girl Evolution is absolutely amazing.
Sure it's slow, but it's hilarious to watch how dumb the romances progress, and the pace totally matches the characters' personalities.

Maybe it's full of bishies, but that's part of the humor; the attitudes of the perfect school idols when they get home, is humorous juxtaposition.

Sure the main character appears as a deformed pudgy thing, 90 percent of the time, but it makes the 10 percent that much more dramatic.

Maybe it is repetitive, but it is always entertaining how the author comes up with new ways to turn Sunako into a lady, then cleverly snatches it away.

Sure the characters are mostly static, but that's because the change in them occurs out of the story line, like what we see in the random flashback chapters, and they do develp. slowly but surely, Ranamaru is slipping out of his playboy ways, Yuki is becoming more respectable, Takenaga has pulled his nose out of a book for once, and the 2 main have developed a cute relationship, understanding each other more than anyone else in the series.

Maybe you see cheap laughs, but I find it a humorous plot line full of silly mistakes, weird scruples, and constant entertainment.

And so what if it's sooooo long? are you telling me you enjoy it when a manga ends? I feel so empty once a manga I've been following for years ends. I always wish there could be more, so Wallflower makes me very happy.

I have personally read the series 4 times, re-reading ii while waiting for the next book to update, and I never get tired of it. I guess that means I'm easily entertained, but The Wallflower always leaves me with a happy feeling. You can't be glum after a good old fashioned trial and failure of the 4 boys turning Sunako into a lady. So that's my take on it. It has some silly faults, but the faults that turn some away are the same characteristics that drew and kept me into the series.

such a drag by Essentia on January 13th, 2010, 5:05pm

At first I loved it, but come on guys you gotta admit that the story just keeps dragging on..
Nothing actually happens, there's no character development...
It's such a shame really 'cause I honestly love this artwork (and I'm into the whole "goth" thing she uses) but this series should end. NOW.

Unexpected addiction by Creeper on December 29th, 2009, 6:19pm

Im male...28 Years old and my favorite Manga include Change 123, Threads of Time, Shamo, The Breaker, and Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer....yet... I love this series. Sunako is almost everything Ive ever wanted in a womanwrapped up in a semi yandere package. Then they went and made it funny. Repetitive and slow at times but I just cant get enough.
