No offense, but that sounds pathetic and manipulative. More for the sake of candy than for being together.
I've never heard of a pumpkin rule.

Here it's only houses with the porch light on, or obvious things like lots of decorations & the front door half open. Still every year we get a few kids, even though we make a point of leaving the porch light off, have no decorations, & close all the curtains. 😔
