CGI: anime of hte future?

The choice between CG and normal animation is the same as the choice between live action and animation; between western style and anime: Aesthetic.
So, in answer, "no." As it becomes more feasible, we will see more of it, but that rise will plateau soon enough, I feel.

I prefer 2d over CGI but I don't mind CGI as long as it's done well and doesn't have 2d mixed in with it. There are exceptions that I think look allright but it's risky and more often than not looks like they just pasted stuff in. CGI looks best to me when done with a high tech storyline, usually futuristic.
Above both of those I prefer hand drawn but that is too time-consuming and cost prohibitive to be practicle.
