Yes, but not too badly. Since MU stopped showing website URLs, I've been using Batoto as my primary go-to for updates and MU as a supplement. Looks like I'll have to switch back to primarily MU and downloading again, but that's a manageable adjustment. (Also gives me incentive to drop a lot more manga that I'm "meh" about instead of stubbornly trying to read them to completion.)

Hopefully, another reader that respects scanlators' wishes will spring up in Batoto's place soon, but as long as MU is around, nothing will ever really affect my manga reading habits too badly.

Usually I don't trust on-line sources, precisely for this reason - because they can close down.

Exactly. Has it been several years already since a notable online reader like Batoto closed down? After several online readers closed down prior to the existence of Batoto I switched to following on MU.

Just a little, I guess. There are some scanlators that don't have their own online readers and use only Batoto to post new chapters. Those will have to find a new solution for them (I really hope they do) and they are pretty much the only ones that will affect me. Other than that, since I prefer to use the scanlator's online reader (well, if I have to give clicks to someone, I would like for them to benefit the scanlator instead of some random website), I guess it won't be much of a change.

I'm basically screwed, fully dependent on Batoto and furiously transferring over my list of series to here so I don't lose anything, but this may see me reading 90% less manga than I used to do and I may only bother actively keeping up with my top 10 or even top 5 in the future. I've gotten too complacent and kind of treated Batoto as if it would be around forever.

It's definitely going to be a bit of a problem for me now. When MU stopped keeping links to most scanlaters' sites Batoto became my main way of easily accessing manga and supporting scanners without having to go on a Google search-and-find every time I wanted to read the latest release. IRCs, Discord, and the like confuse the mess out of me. Every time I try to figure out how to use them, or access the manga I want to read, I usually end up frustrated, confused, and ultimately give up. For me, Batoto was a great way to check out new manga and still support the scanlaters without having to commit to a download for a series I may not even like. Now, I guess I'll have to go back to less community friendly sites to find out if I like a series and then start downloading new releases from the scanner sites after I decide to stick with it.

I'll miss Batoto. I started using it early on (I officially joined on November 29th, 2011 and had been lurking well before then) and I've always been a fan of their transparency and community support. I'm thankful for the many years the site was available and the many manga, mangaka, and scanlaters I discovered because of it. Hopefully a new community friendly site will arise before too long.
