as long as you are realistic and admit that sekirei's plot is retarded, then it won't bother you as much. i mean it's pokemon with hot chicks, don't expect an amazing plot haha

When we talk about Oh! Great, I need to give special attention to Tenjou Tenge.
Seriously, to understand WTF that manga is about your either need to be rocket scientist or read articles in wikipedia. Apparently there is a plot between 1000 of panty flash fights, but most readers tend to miss it.
As far as drawning are really awesome, the manga seriously has more fans than it deserves it.

That doesn't mean it's bad. In fact, it's one of my favorite mangas. There IS a plot, and it is actually quite good.

Thankfully after 60 chapters we learnt that they were trying to make a super warrior, which somehow there was a flashback (500 years in the past) connected to it in which apparently all of them appeared and the super warrior was even called Negi and..
..I only read it for the Tit-man, he was cool. Seriously, some problems those guys have in school - makes you wonder how the hell such school was allowed to exist considering that students there kill each other, form gangs and their basic lectures are about how to kill your enemy.

It's a fantasy/action/ecchi manga. One doesn't read a fantasy/action/ecchi manga without expecting what Tenjho Tenge gives, and frankly, it does it better than most other ecchi manga.
Srsly, how many ecchi manga have a plot as good as Ten Ten that aren't based off of bishojo games?

@Ahoaho : A lot of ecchi/fantasy/action mangas based on h-games have good plot 🙂 I don't know any with good one, but you reminded me of another series which is completely overrated and fits that cathegory

Sorry but im my opinion Love Monster is over-rated, to be honest I just don't like it. Everyone I know goes GA-GA over it. It's nothing special.

Not everyone has read it. Thanks. Appreciate it.
Ouch. That sucks. Someone spoiled it for me as well, some time ago.

Shina Dark has a pretty good plot so does Change 123. I like Tenjou and Oh! Great is actually a decent writer, but its very overrated and it does get convoluted at times.
And yeah Tiamat I've told myself and others countless times that Sekirei's plot was pretty stupid, but people still insist that it is deeper than it appears.

I'll throw in a vote for Kare Kano- I liked it just fine, but it's not OMG deep. Neither is NANA, nor Vampire Knight, nor Akuma de Sourou nor half a dozen of the title's usually rec'd when someone asks for deep/psychological/etc. (I adore all these titles, but there are more intelligent ones floating around.)
Wait... people actually try to call Vampire Knight and Akuma de Sourou 'deep'? BUAHAHahahaha... cough sorry. I liked both the stories an awful lot (in fact, Akuma de Sourou was probably the series that got me obsessed with manga), but no way would I rec them as deep/psychological, not now that my list of manga read is probably in the thousands.
Vampire Knight reminds me a lot of Twilight. Billions of 13 year old girls squealing about it constantly (with pretty banners and "Yuki/Zero Love Forever!!!") because it has hot emo vampires. The story isn't too bad, but I really only read it because Kaname is just so smexy, and I can't help guiltily drooling all over anything with vampires in it (sigh, I'm still 13 at heart).

Yeah... same thing happened to me. I pretty much lost all desire to finish reading/watching the series once I heard he died.
As far as most overrated goes... I try to avoid fangirls and discussions on really popular manga, because I know that it'll just color my perceptions of what could otherwise be a really good story. Therefore, before I skimmed over this thread I hadn't even begun to think of some of the above mentioned as popular. Guess that's just me being a bit dumb 😛 .
The number one manga I -really- get tired of hearing about, and seeing on top ten lists, is effing Absolute Boyfriend. I mean not only is the art heinous, but the idea of it is just so stupid (I could rant for hours about why this is, but I don't want to subject all of you to that). I would say that I felt the exact same way about all of Yuu Watase's work, except that just recently I found a (yaoi) manga of hers called Sakura Gari, and I really liked it. So therefore I'll just say I feel the same way about almost all of her stuff 🙂 .
Also, after reading Love Celeb and a couple others, I realized that I was really tired of Shinjo Mayu's works as well. I mean not only are the stories complete bogus, but I HATE the girls' faces. I can barely stand to read shoujo smut anymore, most of it is unbearably crappy.
Oh and by the way, I'm a huge manga fan and I've never touched or paid a bit of attention to Inuyasha ^_^. In fact, I've only watched the first 20 or so episodes of Naruto, and 60 or so of Bleach.
EDIT: Whups, reading back on the thread I have even more to say 😲 . Sorry to ramble on so much!

I'd say any that last for ages and ages and ages, because I always get the feeling that there's not enough plot to make it worth dragging them out.
...
Also, Okane ga Nai. I really have no idea why that's so popular.
I usually don't even look at any manga that's over 100 chapters 😛 . However, some of them I've looked at despite myself and don't regret doing so (like Skip Beat and Hana Kimi).
And Okane ga Nai! OMG the uke bugs me so much in that one >:[. I'm pretty sure I didn't even get past the first chapter before I had to give up. Big googly eyes, so -sensitive- and bootiful, trembly and crying at every freaking opportunity. I just want to bonk him on the head and tell him to grow some balls.

OP also listed as overrated? man, I wish I have lots of sense of humor 🤣
OP is good, trust me 😀 as for me, I go for naruto and vampire knight. I wanted to start reading VK sometime ago because I saw the the ratings here. it's rated much much higher than naruto, bleach and OP. and the fact is, I can't even finish the second chapter 😲 well, it's the matter of taste. maybe I'm not suited for shoujou series 😛
edit: oops, didn't realize this is my first post. been here for quite some time already and yet never posted in the forum. Hi all!! 😀
