Well knowing people who lost their smell and thus taste, I can tell you it's not good at all. So everything tastes sweet? No watermelon, cherry, or any sweet candy will have flavor. Frankly the core taste sensations are boring and it's flavor that draws people to food (along with texture). Pretty depressing if you ask me.

The poll is too ambiguous, and the results thus won't be accurate by anyone's sense definitions. Sight and hearing are normal, but touch needs to be better defined. It covers too many possible things to be understood by everyone. Even worse are smell and taste. Everyone in these comments is thinking of the scientific definitions of these, but there are more commonly used definitions, even if it would be difficult to not have a loss of common taste entail a loss of scientific smell (feasibility wasn't included in the poll!). I'll skip the noun definitions of these senses, as they just rely on the verb definitions anyway. Smell - to perceive the odor or scent of through the nose by means of the olfactory nerves; inhale the odor of. Perceiving the scent of something by inhaling through the nose. People don't think of taking food into their mouth as inhaling through the nose. Taste - to try or test the flavor or quality of (something) by taking some into the mouth. Experiencing something's flavor by taking some of it into the mouth. Note the lack of mention of the nose. Flavor: noun - the blend of (obviously scientific) taste and smell sensations evoked by a substance in the mouth. Losing common taste thus means losing all sense of flavor anyway. Losing common smell only means losing smell inhaled through the nostrils. It's clear that the people who voted to lose smell were using the common definitions for both smell and taste, not the scientific ones, and the poll didn't specify definitions or feasibility (not that most people would even know) anyway, so they're not making the wrong choice for their interests.

I chose touch taking into account the sex factor. I'm sure people who have sex do it less times a day than consuming food! It's all about food for me! 😛
