dont count off ichi the killer as just "gore" without reading a bit of it

gore and obscene violence stemmed from implanted childhood trauma, and lets not even get started about what the guy does after he kills someone

I must be weird. UP is one of my all time faves, but I've tried to read Keep on Vibrating twice and it bores me to tears. Nothing really seems to happen.

I didn’t found UP very disturbing either, got a bit tired of the art though.

For me frightening in printed work is more associated with psychology of the things, than gore and even then I seldom find something so disturbing that it could scare me.

So both of you liked that scene?

Hands down: The Enigma of Amigara Fault, by Junji Ito. It and another story (haven't read it yet) are here:

Wonder why there's no entry for it on Baka-Updates...

You sound almost shocked, how come?

I wouldn’t say “like” though, it didn’t affect me one way or another. It was insignificant at that time, so I don’t even clearly remember of what you are talking about.

It was a film crew, they give this women some money so they could shoot some scenes......with her......and the farmer's pig..........

I don't want to give more description than that.......

I wasn't too bothered by it. I've seen similar things before in other places. There's really only three or four things that really bother/disturb me, and the pig thing wasn't one of them. D: And I LOVED UP's character designs. I've always liked that art style.

Amaya_ aren't you like to young to be reading that?
I'm not trying to say what you should read and what you shouldn't (Because I never worried about the age limit myself in the past) but if you read something labeled as mature, you have to expect stuff that might be hard on your stomac to handle...

And Invalent, I agree about Ichi the Killer... That's one twisted manga. Not frightning a bit, but that was the first time I thought "this is to gore!!". (And I always considered myself to be immune to gore...)

And finally I have to agree with bully_jesus, the thought that some people think that life is like that is a real nightmare...

It's cool to see how people from completly different origins can think pretty much the same about some things. It's a small world

I must be weird. UP is one of my all time faves, but I've tried to read Keep on Vibrating twice and it bores me to tears. Nothing really seems to happen.

Well, keep on vibrating isn't a connected story, but unlinked one-shots. Reading em together isn't really worth much, because as you said nothing ever happens really. I would advise reading them one after each other with time between. Ecspecially the last one with the sniper, its the only story so far published with a not sad ending.

not being disgusted and liking are two different things. But anyway, i thought it was a tough scene, but one of the reasons i like comics is because they have almost no boundaries. Beastiality is a real thing, and i am sure there are many more animal porn movies than professional mercenarie hitmen or gymnastic-catburglars or the other kinds of characters you find in tons of comics/mangas. Its an adult manga that isn't meant to be an easy read. When somebody shows pedophile rape in a non hentai/erotic context ( such as in EDEN ) its not nice, and its not suppose to be, and i applaud the mangaka who has the guts to draw it.

You just said what I was thinking after I read that line, just didn't feel like bothering to post... Because I feel that ares6 doesn't really care and just wants to make us say stuff we don't really intend to say.

And just to say, I like manga (or anything else) that actually dare to show human nature for what it is. I mean a manga where you really see how cruel humans can be, (and I said can and not are ok? I don't need anyone to make me say stuff I didn't say).

I just realized that it helps an awful lot if you can spell correctly to write a serious comment on something. Oh well, i gave up on spelling and grammer a long time ago.

Hmm... since we speak of disturbing/shock value series now, Mpd Psycho fits quite a lot into that category, especially the first couple volumes which involve investigation of several murders. It’s nice, complicated read. I was kind of surprised that Dark Horse has licensed it, then again Dark Horse has licensed several horror manga recently.

yep....that's EXACTLy it.....how clever...

Anyway, MPD wasn't really scary. I kind of expected the pot of flower in the brain. I just didn't know people would be still alive after that. Doctors certainly wouldn't agree. I felt more suspense from 20th Century Boys that this one. That guy with the scarf on this face is just freaky.
