You all know the "Status in Country of Origin" series information field, right? There's been too much confusion and it's becoming an annoying problem, so I'll clarify its purpose here.

"15 Volumes (Ongoing)" means that 15 volumes of the series are out in tank form in the country of origin. The 16th volume is in the works. Even if chapters for volume 16 are out in magazines, there are only 15 volumes in print! So the field indicates exactly how many volumes are currently printed and are possible to buy if so wished.

If it is a new series and no volume is currently released because all the chapters are in magazines, either leave the field blank or put "0 Volumes (Ongoing)". Do not put the number of chapters released. Only volumes!

For doujinshi, leave this field blank unless there are multiple volumes of a doujinshi series that use the same name.

For oneshots, they should all be "Oneshot (Complete)".

Offenders who continue to change series information will be revoked of "updater" status. Please keep our manga database accurate and updated. Your work contributes!

Actually I don't see the problem in putting the number of chapters if it's a monthly or bi-monthly series that likely won't have a volume release for months... since it's basically the same as saying that's all there is to the series... but whatever...

What should you put if a manga gets cancelled soon after serialization, but no tanks are out? For instance, Chagecha got cancelled soon after serialization (which only had 8 chapters), but no tank/volume is out yet. Should you update it as 0 Volumes (Complete) or 8 Chapters (Complete)?

Because its annoying. The point of that field is to show how many compiled volumes there are. Not how much of the series has actually been published.

The point of adding (Ongoing) is to let users know that the series is still going, and that they can expect more volumes, and that there are chapters that havn't been compiled yet.

0 Volumes (Complete) would be correct until those chapters eventually get released as a tank. When its released, 1 Volume (Complete) would be the correct update.

Thank you for finally cracking down on these people! It's not just this issue, but I'm tired of seeing people changing or adding misleading information in blatant disregard of site policy. Nice to see some enforcement for a change. 🙂

Great, it really bothered me when the series had like 5 volumes ahead of the one last released >_>
