The female can be whatever i don't care, but preferably characters that are not too innocent or crybaby
Genders: Romance is a must. Action or blood and gore are good, but not a necessity. No yaoi or yuri

Sanctuary may fit well. He isn't evil but he is extremely calculating and rather ruthless at times... story has its unrealistic parts but you should like it.
Noblesse(no romance atm but its on its way most likely, and if not just look forward to shinwoos... and he better end up with vampy ;-; ) ... he is rather arrogant when he gets in a fight... but he undisputably deserves to be and as there is no counter to his epic, it doesn't really seem like arrogance lol
Tokyo crazy paradise fits extremely well and while they act childish at times(they are like 14-15) the romance is rather sweet and heart wrenching, and the girl is anything but average.... she is kinda innocent but it seems obvious she can and will kill you if u push her, and the guy fits all the categories.

The main guy is exactly what you're looking for. He isn't exactly arrogant, yet he is confident in his choices and decisions. He doesn't have noble reasons for doing everything he does, he mostly does things for himself which can make him seem a bit ruthless or heartless at times. He's very perceptive, calculating, and tends to be sarcastic most of the time. He isn't evil, but he certainly isn't cheerful and willing to sacrifice himself for noble motives like lots of shounen I've read (ahem, Naruto). One of the supporting female characters is annoying innocent type, but all the other female characters are stronger and more unique (I think she's used mostly for contrast for the other characters). I haven't read it far enough to see if a romantic relationship develops, but I do know that one of the female characters ended up having feelings for him...

I consider this series to have 2 main characters, one of them female and the other male. However, the male crossdresses as a girl—and even though he pretends to be the typical girly-girl goody-two-shoes, pretty soon you do see his true nature—namely, his violent, sarcastic, ruthless, and calculating side. The female character is kinda a pervert (as far away as being innocent as you can get). The whole series is mostly a comedy. It's technically in the romance genre—but I don't know if an actual relationship grows between them, since I stopped reading this series halfway.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
This has the sarcastic, confident, perceptive male lead, an eccentricfemale lead, and has a drop of romance. It's also very funny.
Ghost Hunt
A sarcastic, arrogant male lead, a typical innocent female lead in the beginning but actually grows useful as the series goes on, and a plot that circulate on solving mysteries. Overall it's what you're looking for...
