I know exactly what you're talking about. The meat in the middle doesn't even taste good. I hate it, I hate it, but my mom's made it several times. Every time, I somehow manage to down some, but dmn it sucks.

I love Durian. It tastes great, and I've never thought it smelled bad. i was 'pressured' into eating natto once by my host-mother when i went to japan for a couple weeks - i'd seen her downing the stuff all week like candy so I thought it couldn't be that bad .... just thinking about it gives me the dry heaves now

I like durian..It is one of my favourite fruits..You can find durians anywhere in my country when its seasons and it's cheap.. 😀

I ate natto too. You can't stay in Japan without trying out natto. There's always someone who'll gladly force-feed it to you. 😀 I only tried it once and I'll never eat it again. That thing has such a strong taste. Just a few beans can leave a bitter aftertaste that lasts the whole day... But Japanese people love it. I know a few who eat them for breakfast everyday, and some who mix them with rice and eat it for dinner.
And if you think durian smells bad...try getting a whiff of natto. XD
