Indigo Blue is an excellent josei. It's about an author who's a closeted lesbian and pours her emotions into her stories. Even if you're not into the whole gay thing, I suggest you check it out because it's more about the self discovery and her dealing with her boyfriend and the woman she meets that makes her accept her feelings. Not cliche at all, there is sex in it, but it's not smutty. It's quite a deep story.
