i guess your right, but i don't think anyone to close to Luffy's bounty is a good idea. especially if they're former captains. there's bound to be some sort of conflict in the way they think if it's like that. i imagine bickering for chain of command would start up that way. i saying this cause look at how Law and Kidd behave around Luffy. it's not like they have respect for his command. and their all bound to see themselves better than the other captains. Ace himself is a special case as well, he has some undying loyalty to Whitebeard. and Luffy's yet to best him too, i don't think the captain can or should be weaker than his subordinates. though i will admit those you mentioned would be nice members (though Ace joining seems like a far off dream 😛 ). also i think we should consider the beliefs of the person joining as well. a lot of the people who joined Luffy, even though they are pirates, have a strong sense of justice in some way. and are pretty peaceful people to begin with. whoever is going to join can't be someone who'd willingly hurt innocent people or let injustice go on right in front of them.

Okay...first thing first...when Luffy said he wanted 10 member did that makes total 11 person on board since he is the captain?
so far we have :

1. first mate (swordman)
2. navigator
3. marksman (inventor)
4. chef
5. doctor (pet)
6. archeolog
7. crafstman
8. musician (also a swordman)

so my guest for the 9th would be another female character maybe mermaid or something,dunno what position she'll fill though.and for the last one i say a Logia user, in this case Ace would be a great addition since

he was captured and WB's fighting shicibukai and marine, most likely he'll lost and that make Ace's dream practically ruined as he 's trying to make WB become pirate king

or maybe a scientist like dr.vegapunk from world government could join them, that'd be nice.

i voted farmer/agriculturist for taking care of nami's orange tree and feed the fish on the aquarium 😛

Logia type devil fruit mermaid.. Has to be it.. Well I was thinking it had to be a girl... And since they are(were.. stupid kuma and such) heading to merman isle or village or whatever.. I also figured they would pick up a crew member there. Next should be a girl too.. And I can't imagine a strong girl fighter without a logia type power.. So my conclusion is a logia type devil fruit mermaid. Maybe a water element.. You know, something that wouldn't help her much anyways since she fights mainly in the water being merman species.

ya its about time for em to pick up a logia user thats one of the few abilities they dun have >.>

That would be nice, but here's a problem with a devil fruit mermaid: being half-fish is only for show, if she takes a dip, she's gonna go deeper in the ocean than any mermaid's gone before. I think if she is a mermaid/fishwoman, she can be a fighter since they are naturally stronger than humans (at least the fishwoman part, dunno bout mermaids, but then again, what's the difference). I'm thinking that mebbe Oda would come up with new forms of strength (aside from Rokushiki and Haki) that doesn't require a DF and can match up against Logia users. Cuz, truth be told, I don't see Luffy getting any Logia ability upgrades, and with the New World being as tough as it is, he, Zorro, and Sanji are gonna need to get hella stronger if they're gonna match up against the top of the OP fighting world. 😃

i have no basis for this and this is a pure hope. like the poster above i too want hancock to be the new member!! that or a master of some sort. that will be able to teach luffy new moves because his current set of fighting moves are basically destroying his body from the inside out, i'm afraid by the time he does reaches one piece he'll be in a wheelchair or be on some kind of lifesupport like whitebeard.

I want Hancock to be the next nakama more for group dynamic reasons than for any skills she has or role she could fulfill.

Can you imagine how hilarious it would be to see Sanji drool all over her while she's drooling over Luffy? And Nami being angry because she lost her personal servant? I think it'd be hilarious 🤣
