When I much younger and just started reading manga, the only genre I read was shoujo... well, and maybe one or two shounen titles, but still, the majority of what I was read shoujo. Now, I pretty much detest it and only read shounen and some seinen. Here and there I find a shoujo series that interests me, but other than that, I prefer shounen comedy over typical shoujo romance.

You are like the dense main character in a shoujo manga.

And you will murder someone one day, pika. If you're my daughter.

but mostly I;ve stuck to the genres that got me into anime.manga in the first place....

The first memory is very important. I found anime and manga through Junjou Romantica so this combined with my adoration to boy on boy action made me Yaoi fanatic for ever. 😉

But I also prefer BL with plot over the ones with mindless smex. I suppose every mature genre contains titles with good plots and titles with mindless smex.

When I was younger and first started reading manga
I was an vivid shoujo reader, I became bored of 'em so I moved on to shounen, then to senien, josei, BL mangas and now..I just read anything..I especially like psychological and slice-of-life mangas now.
I'm all about plot now, I used to be a fluff reader now I'm basically the opposite of that...

I hear you say "Why?" Always "Why?" You see things; and you say "Why?" But I dream things that never were; and I say "Why not?"

I've definitely had a "change of taste". I could stomach so much more when I was younger, stuff that would make me want to vomit now. IE, Hot Blooded Woman.
I seek more mature mangas now that I can relate to. I've also expanded what I read -- what I used to read was almost strictly shoujo. I read josei, shounen and seinen, and less shoujo than ever.

When i first started i was watching anime seinin/romance/comedy stuff ex.Naruto, Bleach,Shakugan no Shana, buso renkin, Yamato shingi henge,Ghost Hunt etc. while i still love stuff like that im more into Romance manga now the kind that has some sort of plot at least _ could never stand smut or pointless shoujo manga. though now that romance/shoujo is starting to annoy me im going back to stuff that acutally has an awesome plot -.- More action and fantasy stuff with a bit of romance and i will NEVER like yaoi....shudder..my horizons dont expand THAT far XD one time i innocently stumbled on a yaoi episode @@ when i was like 12.....the first 5 sec..well you can imagine it. anyways scarred for life. same with yuri, weirds me out @@ but maybe thats cause im straight? do straight ppl like manga like that? or only gay/lesbian ppl? 😕

Ahaha! And you think you were scarred for life!? I have started reading ecchi mangas when I was 10, read hentai at around 11 and now... (I'm still young 🤣 I'm so corrupted) yaoi and others. o.0 I'm het.

I've gone through these phases (chronological order):
-Loved simple shojo romances at the start
-Then shojo romance fantasies
-Then shonen fantasy fighting stuff
-Then shonen fantasy ecchi
-Then hentai
-Then back to shonen fantasy stuff
-Then BL
-Then josei
-Then seinen
-Then just psychological
-Now I read bl, yaoi and almost everything else again (except for hentai and ecchi)
I hate shojo romances though and smut and I don't read yuri/GL...

Whoa! What huge experience! 😀 😁

I think I never answered the same topic. 🙂 I have ever read only yaoi. I download shounen-ai too but I don't read it (too light for me 😳 ).
