They could be telling the truth about their age, a webcam isn't going to tell you if someone is a rapist or psycho or not.

And you can if you'd meet them in real life? Like in a bar, while drunk (=real life?).

I don't get drunk. Though generally, yes, but that is because I don't trust many people at all, why would I trust a stranger?

But hey, if I'm the type of person who bar hops drunk looking for a lay, I guess if that person is a rapist or a psycho it doesn't really matter.

Yeah, well, my point was that it doesn't really matter if you meet them randomly irl or in internet with webcams and stuff, either way you can't be sure if they are dangerous or something, but on the other hand it's pretty easy to tell if someone's a good person or not (though not 100% sure).

Not true, unless it's someone that has lost or never had a grasp on reality/social dynamics. I.e. A sociopath always seems extremely likeable at first, but is really out to manipulate and take advantage of you.

Nope... never. I wouldn't do it but what others do, is none of my business.

STDs is one thing but HIV is another.

Then, there's the thing about meeting someone who turns out to be 20 to 30 years older than he/she claimed to be. If it's just one person, it might be easy to escape but if it's a group of dirty old men, I'm not sure how I'd fare.

Plus, you don't know if someone is looking for a chance to sweet-talk you into parting with your bank account information(like what name you use at your bank) and other details.

I don't mean at the first meeting, but after getting know them better. Like making friends in general. I've sociopaths and even if you can't really tell them apart from "normal" people, after you get to know them better it shouldn't be too hard to notice something's wrong—at least to me, and though I suppose I'm better at reading people than the average, I don't think it's too hard—unless you're pretty tense. I mean, so that you don't feel like following them to their apartment or something of the sort. And as I said, not always—I guess I could have phrased that better...

But well, I don't live in United States (yeah I'm assuming you're from US, since most in here are), so I wouldn't know what the dangerous people are like in there.

Ah, yeah. A few years back, I encountered one. And it took me forever to see his true colors. Then again, I wasn't exactly the social savant I am now back then. Hahaha. Good times...

I'm not. European. : )
