Ex-neh-about-the-no-shell-eh.
We're producing a classic-style expansion controller, based on traditional designs like the Gamecube controller. It's like a shell with a hole in the top into which you slot the freehand-style controller, and then you can play third-party ported games, and retro Nintendo games you've downloaded.

And that's old. The shell has since turned into the classic controller. http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/09/confirmed-wii-controller-shell-revealed/

Argh!! I knew I have been hibernating for too long! I really shouldn't sleep in the freezer...
Yeah, I noticed the classic controller, but I didn't think that the extention shell thing was droped and replaced by that... And that's quite bad. Because from what I understand: that classic controller is only for playing the old games and stuff. It wont work with the Wii games.

Agreed. As long as the controller fits into the system you should be able to use it. Juuuuust like computers. Dang! Stupid hoity toity PCs and their logicalness.

But isn't there a difference in buttons and other stuff? Or maybe they thought players of the old games would like to use an "older" looking controller...Either that, or they just wanna milk some money off of us~

::totally ignores everything else that's been typed here like a little jerk::
I don't own a wii or a ps3, and I don't intend to until at least spring next year. It seems like the people who rally around and buy the new consoles at original prices and then blogging it when the thing blows up in three weeks end up being little more than free market testing to the companies that make those things. Most of the people I knew who got ps2s the first Christmas after they were released ended up with broken consoles by spring, not to mention. It seems to be going the same direction for ps3s.
Honestly, it may be that I only play a console game every couple months, but my ps2/GC both have another year of still being entertaining in them so I'm going to wait for the price drop. By then I'll have a cheaper console with less bugs and a I'll already have a good idea of what good games each have. :;shrug:: 😮

Well my PS2 lasted me for all of about 5-6 years so I'm one of the lucky few. Nintendo systems are notorious for being well-made so there's not much to be afraid of buying a launch day Nintendo console. Of the 3 "current-gen" consoles, only the 360 is having failures.

The thing is that the Wii is already at an affordable price, and we can probably still expect a price drop soon.
On the other hand, it's almost uselless to wait for the PS3 price to drop, because it's probably isn't going to happen in a long long time. Sony is already selling for less than manufacturing costs. They'd have to be able to reduce production costs by a lot before they can start reducing prices. I think I read somewhere that the PS3 estimated cost is around 850$ 🤢 .
And Hostile, about the 360, that's what I'd call "American Expertise" lol...

You can't block out the possibility of a PS3 price drop if it becomes harder and harder for stores to sell it.
The thing with the Wii is it might come out with an upgrade sooner or later because of the smaller amount of space (512 MB compared to 20GB-60GB on the others). If they don't fix the SD card thing in a couple of years, it might need one.
