I think they're scanlators' enemies. Taking financial advantage of people's labor of love makes them enemies in my book. If they didn't do it for profit, it would be a different story.

In reality, your plan will have a lot of restrictions: type of file format, size limit, limited bandwidth per day, Mysql limitations, etc. and if you want a real plan which supports hundreds to thousands of users at a time, you will want a more premium server. That is: unless, you can get something for dirt cheap.

At the moment, the company I'm with has unlimited bandwidth. Though I do need to see how quickly it'll fail and whatnot. Mostly I expect to start small and build up from there. There's no point to 'announce' it and then have it crash the same day.

I'm actually not really for Red Cross because in certain incidents in the past, didn't some of their money "disappear" when it was given over to the governments? And years later, when they did an audit, it seemed the money had disappeared... into many officials' pockets or even siphoned off by the military? Not sure about trustworthiness of other charities.

Yes. Recently there's been a lot of reports of this. I some new websites came out recently that rate the efficiency of charities and the like. I saw this on the news.... last week? I'll have to look it up again. At the very least, that's something that'll REALLY have to be looked into.

I agree. Also if they respected the wishes of the scanlators as well. Some scanlators want to delay a day or two and to keep their credit pages, but many disregard these things.

Oh-kay~ I always love all these talks about online reading sites.

First of all, I like Batoto.com's idea, they helped scanslation teams pay their servers and RAWs, though it would be bad if someone actually use them for their own profit (especially the one with free blogs or forums, I also got my site for free from Grumpy, the one who created Batoto, LOL).

I also like your idea with all those charity stuffs, always love to help all of those crying and pitiful little girls out there... BUT, try to make some options that can help the scanslation team to pay the cost of their server or RAWs too, I don't really know how, because Batoto's ads idea is good for that one....

I guess you can also help by providing free spaces to scanslation team that want a cool site and their own cool reader? Just an opinion from em~ 🙄

The main idea is to not be like Batoto. I previously mentioned that I don't particularly agree with their policies, that's why I'm going to make this. As well, I also mentioned that, for most groups, it's quite easy to run their site for free, which only leaves RAW costs.

This project is to be voluntary. That is, if groups want to use this reader they can. That also crosses off having to buy server space to have a reader of their own (unless they really want to).

If groups want to receive help from ads, they can turn to Batoto for that. This reader is supposed to be for non-profit.

Finally, for server space, I won't be providing that as having a large manga reader will (eventually) cost quite a bit, even with revenues from ads. And, once again, they can turn to Grumpy for that.
