The fire temple arc is a filler arc to allow the manga more time.
and yes
The former guard gets killed by akatsuki members and his body gets traded in for money, so they might actually be trying to build up emotions, as Shmoke said.

hmm if they go about it like that with the spoilers, they may not be so bad.

They do that so that the fillers at least somewhat fit in with the rest of the story. In the end, though, the filler episodes just aren't as good as the real ones.

now that i think about it you think the Jinchuuriki girl might get the same treatment with the anime too? there wasn't much about her in the manga like the Monks.

Yeah me too, it would be interesting to know a bit background about the cat (was it?) girl. Since we know about Gaara and Naruto..

yeah it was skipped over to easily when it was a nice opportunity to explore someone else there. to bad if she is it's only going to be for a filler, would've been nice if it was something official like in the manga.
I mean, she could willingly control her beast form. How cool is that?!

unless there were some plans for her to be a part of the story later I really dont see the point, she is dead. They did the same thing to her as gaara and unless she has someone else who knows the same technique as the old woman from the sand village I would assume its too late.

oh i know but i was just stating that it was a bit of a missed opportunity at the time for an interesting story. as with a lot of the Jinchurikis and Bijuus in this part of the story. i mean Akatuski is after them, so why not shed some background on them and build up a story for them. Kishimoto seems like he's just rushing a lot of things and leaving some pretty good plots in this.
