is it wrong for scanlators to sell scanlations

I think its wrong. Ask yourself, how much of this money are they sending the creators? They didn't write or draw anything. They didn't come up with any of the story lines. If i'm going to pay anyone its gonna be the creators or at least something legit where I feel like the creators get a cut. Thats the #1 reason I wouldn't pay the scanlator... the people who actually deserve the money don't get any of it.
If some company starts putting their manga online and wants to pay someone to translate for a simultaneous English release, i'll put money on that every week if its something that I read every week or something that i've fallen in love with. I'm thankful for the scanlators, but pay them... no. I think its a waste.

I don't know if it's all that wrong, but it is against the law since they haven't paid the mangaka or the japanese publisher for permission to use their manga.

No one doesn't want to make money for what hey do, so from that point of view I understand. I mean it takes a lot of time to put out good releases. But unless money is going to the creator, then getting money for it is wrong. Scanlators don't create any new "intellectual property", we just alter it. Also to make it fair, the money would need to be distributed to the raw providers, translators, cleaners, editors. Especially raw providers and translators. In most cases the only person who spent any money is the person who buys the manga volumes, so I understand asking for donations to get these people some money to cover the expenses. But charging to download or view manga, that the person had no actual part in its creation, thats just illegal on top of illegal.

It's wrong from the legal point of view. Whether we love Publishers or not, Publishers have to pay a sum of money to the original Japanese Publishers before they can start working on the series and releasing the series to make money. If Scanlators want to sell their scanlations, they have to pay for the license as well. That's how it works.

i am a translator. i do this to get better at understanding both languages. just some appriciation for doing a chapter for you all is enough for me. i do not need to get paid. do you stop doing your hobbies even if it costs YOU money. (by the way the answer is no because you like to do them) the same is for us. but you would not do your hobby (and stupidly in front of a police station) if it could get you arrested.
we do not have lisences. so paying us is just stupid. pay your money to company actually doing the project. then you are supporting one very important person (more than us). the creator of the manga/anime. if we do not have them then we will have nothing to entertain us. anyone paying for FREE STUFF is an IDIOT!!!!!
