Female shounen/seinen mangakas and male shoujo mangakas??
Though it might be EXTREMELY sexist of me saying this, please dont be offended, it isnt surprising that shounen mangakas are mostly men, though not all, that is definately true. And, women do tend to write seinens if they target male readers, however, its interesting to know how some of my favourite shounen and seinen mangas are actually made by women...some manwhas also...some examples are:-
Eternal Sabbath- Souryo Fuyumi
Full Metal Alchemist - ARAKAWA Hiromu (This is a huge surprise!! I love love love this manga)
D Gray man - HOSHINO Katsura
xxxHoLic - OHKAWA Ageha
Mushishi - URUSHIBARA Yuki
Kekkaishi - TANABE Yellow
Threads of Time - Mi Young Noh
There are actually many more especially in manwhas, but the ones above are the ones I like...On the flip side, you may sometimes come across male shoujo mangakas, though I dont know any examples..any examples for female shounen/seinen mangakas and male shoujo mangakas 😕

I don't know her name, but the author of Elfen Lied. Who knew a woman could make such an amzing seinen?
Glados is a bitch. She made me kill the companion cube, the only friend I'll ever have. 😢

Hmm ..but mangaupdates states that OKAMOTO Lynn who wrote this is a male, its really very confusing their names..I think Death Note's original author was rumoured to be female but that may be untrue..

Most series that you listed I think that you can actually tell that they were written by a woman, thought D gray man was a surprise.
But talking about CLAMP , X is way better than xxxholic, and it is also shounen.

Elfen Lied's author is a dude!? Never heard Lynn used as a guy's name before. Though that does explain the high amount of female nudity...

you just reliesed this i mean look at book authors. Their is so many male oriented books that are written by females and this is because its easier for a female to have thier main cherecter as male then it is for a male author to have his main charecter as a female. this may seem sexist a bit but its the truth like how many books/manga by a male has the main charecter a girl and is well liked. this is because no man really wants to try and portray a womens thoughts directly and indeptly and risk failing. while women have higher success rates on pulling off writing with a main charecter of opposite sex. because they have much more experience of how males think and can portray a males mind accurately (well atleast the good female writers).

Well, I agree on your point, well put. But though most shounens have boys as main characters, the point is the content rather than the characters of the manga which is why I brought this forward, slapstick story line, more action, more adventure, more plot compared to shoujo which usually is gooey in feelings though I like shoujo too...

Lol, Eternal Sabbath didn't surprise me since she was the mangaka for Mars. D.Grayman and Kekkaishi did surprise me though. I always thought the mangaka of those two series were men since the plot is such a shounen fighting manga. Guess you learn something new everyday, but the mangaka of Threads of Time surprises me the most since it's such a brutal manga. Hmm, I should pay more attention to mangaka names.

I don't know about manga but this is especially true when it comes to the fantasy genre of the normal books. Most most fantasy books have boys/men as main characters regardless of the authors' genders. One news-reporter comments that this happens due to the fact that female and males can read books which have males lead. However when it's a female lead, there's less males who are likely to read them or starts reading them.
When it comes to manga, if it's a male mangaka, the story is usually more toward Josei than Shoujo. For shounen, straight from the mouth of mangakas (or at least the comments at the end) I have read before: They grew up reading mostly shounen so they habitually make most of their characters males, especially main characters.
From my point of view, I always like reading from both female and males authors of any genres. I love to see the similaries and differences of how characters' thoughts and emotions are portrait. I find it boring if I just read from female's views all the time or male's view all the time. It's not balance.
I'm surprised about FMA. I never look at the authors' profile. >.<
goes checking their profiles

Mangaka tend to use pennames, so one can't be sure about their gender according to their publicly known names...
A female mangaka can have male penname as much as a male can have feminim name...
I don't think major differences between male and female mangaka can be seen...
Surely female mangakas rather tend to combine shoujo and shounen, since they grew up on both ( and probably the amount of shoujo reading guys is less )...
But most of the older male mangaka grew up on series written by females ( like Inuyasha or Ranma + also Sailor Moon!! ) as well...
I think it evens out^^
