Hikaru no Go's author is a female (artwork by a male) so that's nice. Though I have a feeling no one actually gives a crap... =( (But it's so good)

However, I usually don't think about it. I wouldn't view the manga any differently if they were female or male. Though being a female myself, it definitely is nice to be reminded that women can do just as well as men in terms of Shounen manga.

I don't think ES is shounen, well at least while I read it, it didn't feel Shounen. It's definitely more just seinen.

though if you realize, except for the big 3 mangas(Bleach, OP, Naruto), the next few spots for popular manga and long running manga are dominated by shounen/seinen genre done by female mangaka.

Its surprising imo that females understand guys better than we understand ourselves haha. and yea, half of these female mangakas have done hentai manga too.

The one that always surprises me is Sekirei. I wouldn't have expected a female mangaka to produce one of the most unrealistic collections of giant boobs in manga.
