1. I'm surprised you have them, i applaud you.
2. Thats a book in the jewish torah, not the christian bible. Even though they are based off of one another very few christians i know pay much attention to the old testament. In fact none of them.
laugh noob

Then that basically proves my point. Thank you.
Christians believe what each of them want to believe, that means you are no longer a Christian if you do not stick to your roots of the religion. That means you are inventing something of your own.
NOOB.

Anyway i'm off. Have a nice day everyone.

how does that prove your point? (see below)

Right my point is that if you lie to them about Santa Claus and Tooth Fairy or that the babies come from the stork, when they grow up and are 18, they will have an option to quit believing it or keep believing it, but like you said it is irrelevant to their future and it leaves them with a choice. However if you are raised as a christian, you have no more choice, your parents are christians, you are made to go to church on sundays, and because you were raised like that all your life, when you are 18, you are most likely not to make a choice to refuse christianity because that was what you were taught your whole life, your choice was taken away from you subliminaly, during the 18 years of your life you were made to be someone you might have not wanted to be. For example I was raised in a christian family, but they didn't baptise me and left me with a choice for when I became 18 years of age I did have my own choice. And i refused religion. This is because they gave me a choice, they showed me the religious side of life, but I've never been made to go church on sunday, unless it was my choice to go.

I just see someone that likes to talk in a circular way to make it seem as if they are alway right. If Christians believe what each of them want to believe, and every sect of Christianity believes something else, then nobody is Christian. If nobody is Christian, everybody has a choice...
Hell, even in your own post you contradict your own point.

In no way religion is good for people.

Positive lessons from religion:
Exodus 20:12-17
Matthew 7:12

which are also found similarly in other religions

And what is preventing us from teaching children these lessons without also instilling in them a belief in an imaginary, omnipotent bearded guy?

Saying that all people who teach kids religion = child abuse is also an extreme

Let's take christianity as an example here.
Here are a few quotes from the bible:

"if they refuse to make peace and prepare to fight, you must attack the town. When the LORD your God hands it over to you, kill every man in the town. But you may keep for yourselves all the women.." - encouraging rape, and murder.

"If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her" - rape + marry? Where's the logic in that?

I fail to see how that makes you not extreme. You must also not understand how people are taught religion. The bible itself isn't used quite as much as the good teachings, and, anything so absurd as your two quotes would not be taught by anyone but someone extreme.

..you Christians should read the bible once in a while.

If you read my post entirely, you'd realize I'm ATHEIST and have been for close to 20 years. Just because I was raised catholic and believe that everyone should be free to chose what they do and do not believe in does not make me Christian.

Nothing prevents it, however just because you or I may not believe in a God does not mean that there isn't one. God is not something that science will ever be able to prove or disprove. It's also good to realize that some people are much happier and thrive with their faiths and beliefs. You, as a person are not superior to another because you do or do not believe in God.

As long as people do not force their religion on me, I have no desire to force my non-belief on them. I believe in freedom. Regardless of what you believe, your rights end before you force your beliefs on another.

Not all religions are about that guy, some actually don't believe in a higher power or one supreme being and yet still try to teach those same lessons.

I never said that these should be taught only through religious practices, I was giving two examples of positive lessons found in religions.

What the hell? How has this not been dealt with?

Enough of your spouting off for one thread.
