Hello !

I am desperatly looking for manga/manhwas/manwa where time travel has the main protagonist, from modern times (20/21e century), travel back to the past.

The time travel can be an action from the hero (meaning he wanted to time travel) or it can be an accident (the hero did not expect it).

So far, these are the mangas I am reading :

Jin:
I love it. It's about a surgeon from Tokyo who travels back by accident to Edo Japan where he decide to do his best to fight the biggest pandemics by using his knowledge.
This manga is the reason I am looking for other like it.
Manga is currently completed, but the scanlator are far too behind and slow (I am not criticizing, they do awesome work!!).

Nobunaga no Chef:
Great and enjoyable. It's about a chef who travels back to Sengoku Era for unknown reasons. He lost his memory but not his skills: he's a master chief. He ends up serving Oda Nobunaga. It's very enthralling and the hero is awesome.
Manga is still in progress, but the scanlator is also far behind and slow (again, not criticizing '^^).

Zipang:
Great as well ! It's about a cutting-edge cruiser / destroyer from 21th century. In the mission in the Pacific Ocean, a strom transports the ship back to 1942 in the middle of a battle between the Empire and Alliance. This is an awesome manga and the plot is serious and enthralling.
The manga is completed and again, a slow and late scanlator ! ^^ (I'm not lucky ... :/ )

Thermae Romae:
I watched the live movie. Was fun ! But it's the other way around: protagonist goes into the future (our present) to improve his time (the past).

and finally Sengoku Strays:
Did not start it. Seems nice and interesting too. Looking forward, but very short: 15 volumes.

As you can see all of them, except Thermae, falls into my specifications.
I hope there are other with the same caliber.

The material can be japanese, corean or chinese smile

Thank you all in advance !!

I love time travel stories too... I did a thread requesting some recently. So you are looking for manga where the characters change the past with future knowledge? I think you've got most of the main ones, here are a few more I can think of...

Nobunaga Concerto - a high school boy becomes the warlord Oda Nobunaga. It isn't completely scanlated and is still ongoing, but I think you might like it. There is an anime as well, if you are interested.

Ashi-girl - A girl travels back in time to the Sengoku era. Ongoing.

Golden Days - a bit different from your others but still technically fitting the requirements, so you might be interested. A boy (and, seperately, his cousin) travels back to 1922 Taisho era Tokyo to save his grandfather's childhood friend. So he's not "improving" the past, just changing something for his specific family member. It's completely scanlated.

Yes thank you for your propositions.

Since you pointed out that I got most of the main ones, I have to say I feel sad to see that they are so late in their scanlation. Again, I am certainly not criticizing, but I would hope for more updated scanlations.

I'll have a look to your propositions but I hope they are other mangas with the same caliber !!

first of all, I'm seconding Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori, Threads of Time, and especially Golden Days, that one's a masterpiece imo

adding:
King of Wolves - decent manga about an alternative history of gengis khan
Ryuurouden - two japanese teens are transported back in time during a trip to china, so they end up being thought of as children of the gods during the 3 kingdoms
Psyren - I haven't read this yet, and they don't go to the past, but you might be interested?
Saver - if I recall correctly, this involved time travel, but I'm not 100% sure because I read this a while ago
Amatsuki - I haven't read far enough to know if they get stuck in a computer simulation or if it's real time travel, but I'll just leave it her anyway
Fushigi na Shounen - this is a personal favorite, another masterpiece. It's episodical, and some chapters involve time travel to the past

Shuto Heru - the protagonist time travelled to ancient China during a mongol conquest of western Xia, Jin and southern Song dinasty. His body did not time travelled per se, but he is occupying the body of female combatant of western Xia, so a genderbend manga. It's still ongoing and the scanlator's already catch-up with the japanese release.

@waxesnostalgic

I started reading Nobunaga no Concerto and it's really awesome.
But has it really been almost a year since last chapter translated ?
It seems no group is scanlating this manga anymore, that's really sad :/

I'll have a look for your other ideas smile

@kamfreto

I tried Shut Hell today ... but I'm confused. Already read 10 or so chapters and I could not understand the story at all...
For example, just the girl, the "evil one". It's the guy from present time that I gather this much.
But how come she came back with the young boy (the bastard of Khan, right ?) but then later there is a similar woman looking for the brother killing any monghol on the way ?
This is downright confusing xD

Yes, I haven't read the manga of Nobunaga Concerto yet because I don't usually read things that haven't been fully scanlated (well, a few, but not many). Hopefully someone will pick it up and finish it. It has a good anime and a great live action drama, though, which I have seen and can highly recommend if you are interested in those. It covers different material than the anime.

Jin also has a great live action j-drama as well, it actually got two seasons. I am only familiar with that one through the drama. Nobunaga no Chef also has a drama, but I haven't seen it.

It is actually a flashback. Ch 2 until ch 20 (volume 3) was telling about Shutohel before meeting with Yurul. The present timeline (the timeline of Sudoh occupying Shutohel body, not Sudoh actual timeline which is 21st century Japan) continued at ch 21.

Hope this help... smile
