Dark mode is definitely something I've been missing ever since I made an account here years ago. I would welcome this new feature with open arms :D

In firefox and its forks you should be able to use dark reader as a way to force it. Iunno if there is a way to do it without an add on.
For chromium based browsers such as chrome, brave, etc. you can go to brave://flags/ or chrome flags and search dark and activate dark mode.
I use dark mode for one of my tablets when reading books at night so I don't solar flare myself if I turn the screen on, but I don't use it by default because it can feel alien to browse a site you know, but the colour theme is out of shift with what you think it should be. It can also be hard to notice stuff with dark mode on.
Here the theme is pretty good so I don't mind, the colours are slightly muted, they are easy on the eyes.

I have astigmatism so dark mode is practically unreadable for me lol.
Light mode is the only way I can really use a site. The halos are just too awful otherwise

I <3 dark mode and am excited for an official version! I use dark mode everywhere, and even petitioned for (and was allowed to implement) a dark mode on the apps we develop. There's only one developer in our office who uses VS Code in light mode, like a madman!

So, I have the Dark Reader add-on for Firefox and I've forgotten what this site looks like without it.
It works well enough that I'll probably just keep using it like this and not bother with an "official" dark mode.
I use Dark Reader but on Chrome, and it's almost perfect. (Selecting text in an editor, like right now as I'm writing this, turns the text invisible and I can only see the selection box, but that's the only flaw I can think of).
I used the site recently without Dark Reader and it was BLINDING.

Out of curiosity LazyReviewer, what do you find bothers you a lot about the dark mode sites?
There are so many times dark websites use text that's too bright or too dark. I find it easier to parse dark markings on a bright background, especially in light-rich environments like I'm used to. And in the night, any light website, like fanfiction, can be adapted with a dimmed screen.
Having to read a lot of bright text on dark backgrounds feels like I'm trying to focus on the painful part, and since white text can give a halo effect on dark backgrounds, it's a bit like reading letters that have a disorienting effect.
Beyond that, menus and small links are often near hidden in a lot of dark mode websites, making quick navigation to beginner or forgetful users a bit exasperating.
I'm a jack of all trades but master of none. Too many jars and not enough hands.

Light mode. Dark mode turns my monitor into a mirror and I could see my ugly face lol.
But seriously, dark mode hurts my eyes.
The early bird may have caught the early worm, but the late worm survived!!
For most part I use dark mode mmm... There are 2 cases when I use light mode, the first is when the site is just garbage in dark mode, and the second is if I need to read stuff under bright sunlight (like when walking while reading) mmm...
I will change this world mmm...
So the world can change me mmm...
