Well, yeah. Dating implies a couple, which in turn implies exclusivity. And are you implying there was a time when dating typically allowed multiple boyfriends/girlfriends? Or that the divorce rate among married couples has grown so high as to imply that it has, in fact, fallen to the level of commitment of mere dating?
