So. I really like gender benders where the girl pretends to be a guy, right? So I'll go out looking for them, and then I'll start reading them, getting all excited and stuff . . .

And then I'll get to a certain point and start to wish the heroine really was a guy. This happened most recently with Savage Garden, but it's happened numerous times in the past.

So I'm looking for a shounen-ai manga with the qualities of a gender-bender. I'm not sure what else I can really say, other than it means that there should probably be multiple love interests (both guys and girls, but girls aren't necessary I guess), the characters who like him should probably be confused about their feelings and . . . well that's about it. Honestly, I can't articulate exactly what I mean. Hopefully you all have read enough gender-benders and shounen-ai to have some vague idea . . .?

If I understood you request correctly, Mangetsu Monogatari should fit.
Yes, it has the gender-bender tag; but the cross-dressing guy has multiple suitors, and the protagonist is all confused about his feelings (because he knows the guy is...well, a guy ^^) There isn't a lot of overt BL in it, though. Just very heavy subtext.

Hm, Thomas no Shinzou? It would be pretty dark for a gender-bender if it were one but it fits all of your requests and Savage Garden did remind me of it... and besides, I take any opportunity I can to suggest this manga.
