  1. Macs are RIDICULOUSLY hard to crack and code. This makes it hard to customize your computer but since the coding is so secret hackers would have to work twice as hard on the virus. So why bother spend more time on something that won't even get as far?

OSX actually has more vulnerabilities then even Vista.
A certain wanton rider told me this.

Yep, it's only a myth that MACs are hard to crack. Now certain Linux system on the other hand, are really really tough. Mostly probably because it's written by someone and thus only a few person has ever touched the internal coding of the OS, unlike Windows and MACs which everyone uses. These two have became the prime target for most hackers. Hackers have written books specifically for these two systems. So get Linux if you really want to be safe. It's free too.

It is not the case of number of bugs/vulns that makes OSX less secure it is the inbuilt security features that the operating system lacks. So that when an exploitable bug is found in either OSX or Vista/7 is much easier to get from bug found to successful/reproducible attack on OSX. Though a lot of these problems have begun to be addressed in some of the recent OSX upgrades, after the bad publicity Apple got at the Pwn2Own competition where the Mac was always the first to fall.

On Linux, it is ahead of the curve on inbuilt security but it is naive to think it is a cure-all and you should suddenly start dling crap off warez sites with impunity. The best defense is the education of the end-user regardless of what operating system you are using.

Don't tell me you were one of those blokes that downloaded that screensaver from Gnome-look and gave it root permissions?
I had a riot reading all the complaints at the IRC channels 🤣

No, but it sort of shows my point. There is no accounting for the stupidity of the end user. The OSX Trojans that got some publicity a while back came down off infected porn sites and users had to click through several warning screens and even execute a command at the terminal iirc. All in the hopes of getting some free porn. Ridiculous... I think people should have to pass some sort of test before being allowed on the 'net. Actually if I had my way there would be very few people about...>_<
